Royal & Ancient Something you are probably not aware of is that Bryn was subject to a robbery at the beginning of the week.Lost a lot of stuff, including his 4x4 whilst asleep. So was under a huge amount of stress outside football.
So well done Bryn for coming through with flying colours

Didn't know he had a 4x4 and now I do he's gone right down in my estimation.

With those Icelandic roads in winter, you can't use much else.

An Icelander with a 4x4 and yet still the club called off a training session because they were worried about players' safety on the drive in?!!

Health and Safety gone mad!

Terminal Boardom It depends on who the Florists have lined up on the left wing.

I don't want to throw a dampner on things but how well would Bryn fare if he was up against someone of the quality of Victor Moses?

About as well as most right backs I would suggest. And comparatively he was up against some pretty quality players last night.

Not wishing to take anything away from Gunnarsson's performance, but didn't you think Insua was really poor in both games?

Woeful. I feared for us when Benayoun was picked on the left, but he seemed to spend half his time in the middle. I can't help but feel Liverpool ignored probably our biggest weakness over the 210 minutes we played them.

If they'd have just put a pacey player up against Gunnarsson to take him on and given him support from the left back. I think it would have been very different.

Fortunately, unlike you, Bryn realised that his main role wasn't to mark Insua!

Yes, his work in setting up the goal was brilliant and one of the players he beat was Insua (who is still an international). However, I was referring to the more attacking players he had to deal with in his main role as a defender.

Bryn was spectacular and, amazingly, was at his best in extra time. All I was saying was that the Argentine International, Insua was absolute pooh throughout.

Its become apparent that Bryn is such a key player to have in the 'bigger' games. Including last night and the first match I can think of him having wonder games in both matches in the FA Cup against United a few years back and Sheff Utd in the promotion season. Chuffed to bits for him!

John Peel He was poor against Liverpool at home. Tonight he was awesome though. I'm sure he'll play like that against Forest :D

From the BBC website:

Reading goal: That is a really, really well-worked goal. Brynjar Gunnarsson, who was rubbish at Forest, morphs into Garrincha down the Reading left, doing Yossi Benayoun and then nutmegging Emiliano Insua before sending over a quite glorious cross that Shane Long glances into the Liverpool net from six yards. Oh my word.

He's actually much more impresive than I thought. Getting the ball on the left, switching all the way to the right before crossing. So fast I nearly missed it.

BBC

LOLz

On 13 January 2010 Gunnarsson cemented his reputation as a club legend after a breathtaking performance to knock Liverpool F.C. out of the FA Cup. Gunnarsson's dummy and nutmeg past the imposing Liverpool defence and his subsequent perfect cross to set up Shane Long won the tie in extra time, leading to the town of Reading to declare the next day 14 January as a town holiday called Brynjar Gunnarsson day.

I fear Brynjar may get both good and bad tv coverage for his skills and neat footwork.

The good for the way he set up the winning goal, the bad for when he managed to knock the ball under his own foot and trip himself up to send him flying head first over the boundary wall and into the front row of scousers! Both supporters and Brynjar ended up having a laugh over that one.

LOL - forgot about that trip up! Was that before or after the winner, nights all a bit of a blur!!

I think he'll mainly be remembered for that fantastic piece of solo work. A Reading legend for sure.

Before the winner. He (and we) were really lucky that he didn't hurt himself. The commentators were joking that a kid in the front row had just had his first set of teeth come out a bit earlier than planned, courtesy of Brynjar's head.

I think there was a mix of Scousers laughing with and at him. He certainly had the last laugh on those that were laughing at him!!

He did indeed! Its one of those moments where its hilarious unless it happens to you! As soon as we saw him get up uninjured we had a chuckle in the away end!
