Gylfi Sigurdsson, right or left footed?

by IcelandicStokie » 14 Jan 2010 23:33

Looking at this video he seems to be equally good with both feets. He is prominantly right footed though, isnt he?

Spot the Reading first teamers in the first video against Watford.

Pearce, Robson-Kanu and Karacan all in it I believe.

That last goal

He's definitely predominantly right-footed, but fuck me can that boy score some spectacular goals .

Karacan, Siggy and Church all have the potential to go a long way. Siggy and Karacan in particular are quality as players of their type at their age are very rare at our level. I've noticed that Karacan this season has become more box to box under Mcdermott. In particular last season, I remember that the few times I saw him play under Coppell he seemed to be more restricted in the way he played. Now under McDermott his speed between the two boxes is lightning.

Agree - Karacan reminds me a bit of a young Tim Cahill.

When you see videos like that filmed on the sort of pitches you might play on yourself, it's a lot easier to appreciate just how good these players are. If I scored any one of those goals then i'd remember it for years. The last one is awesome.

The Millwall fans said exactly the same thing when he was on loan there a few seasons ago.

To be honest Mags, I fondly remember goals that I've "scored" when the ball has hit my arse on the way in that I've claimed.

I can't really imagine scoring goals like that.

They were easy, all he had to do was make contact with the ball........

Everything about Gylfi reminds me of Chris Waddle - he's a class act.

As probably said before on other threads, but that penalty he took against Liverpool spoke a thousand words, all for a lad whose in his first full season with us.

I would'nt be surprised if one of the bigger Prem teams came sniffing.

Our old friend Lawro, during the commentary on Five Live the other night, described Sigurdsson as "having no radar".
Surely he was being blinkered in having to contemplate the shortcomings of Liverpool to fully appreciate the talents of the most gifted player to come through the ranks at RFC for years.
Sigurdsson can play anywhere across a midfield four or behind a loan striker and yes he is comfortable with either foot. Personally I like him coming inside from the left like Joe Cole or Gerrard sometimes do. Nicky Shorey would have loved playing behind him.

Interesting comment to make, he had two opportunities on goal I recall. Both on target. Also his set-piece deliveries were all spot on. Can't remember the quality of his passing, but he usually only passes short anyway.

except maybe for the 2 or 3 he hit too long and straight out of play.......I would guess it was after one of those that Lawrenson made his comment.
