howser "and Sir john, your new manager has intimated that a new striker will be the top of his list of priorities, do you have anything to say about that"

Sir John " well as smoking is banned at this club, I cant see the need for a striker" ?

OR

Sir John " Why do we need a striker? that'll mean we'll score goals and get out this mess!! you stupid person"

just to fill in a few of the gaps ...

"By far the best and outstanding candidate for the job"

" Much thanks needs to go to Nick Hammond for his efforts in getting us to why we are here today"

"This shows our ambition to get back into the premiership"

"This has been a period of reflection"

...maybe for future press conferences we could design our own "BULLSHIT BINGO"

To start we could have ; cloth - cutting- billionaires- deep pockets- Nick Hammond-community-no transfer funds- only loan deals-Nick Hammond - Nick Hammond..again - no offers- yes of course im looking to sell - premiership is our ambition - strong squad - brilliant management team - a bit more cut cloth - deeper pockets...........

you and maybe only a few on here can see no wrong in what is going on, after all why should the egomans fans be upset with dire situation that the club are in at the moment, inexperienced manager, ( If I am not mistaken didn't most on here hammer Madejski for appointing BR under that same banner) but good in cup matches !, poor squad, no reliable striker, and the list goes on.........I have been following this team for many years and stupidly though that we had "come of age" three years ago, but that wasnt taking into account his promise to " get us into the Premier League" sadly the promise to "keep us there" never materialised, and he has done nothing to suggest his "ambition to get back to the Premiership" bullshit, is anything but just bullshit !

Surely 'fastest' just works on top speed unless otherwise specified? No?

Sorry Howser, stupidity on your part is your problem alone....
Most people can see what is going wrong but at the same time can see more than that. You and your Depressives United clique take such a blinkered view that you really would be better off getting an allotment or taking up macrame than working yourself up so much that you seem to have totally missed out on the best ever era in the history of the club.
We had 3 massive seasons, better than any of us ever thought was possible. It was always odds on that we would not become the new Man Utd and given the way the club has ALWAYS operated no one with half an ounce of common sense would have seen as as long term Premiership members at this stage. We've dipped more than I expected us to, but almost every club yo yos a few times and none of the 'Madejski is satan' gang have ever explained why we would be any different to the bigger and 'wealthier' clubs who have had 2, 3 or 4 shots at making promotion stick.
We're in a trough right now, but we won't in it for ever. Anyone out of full time education (and of course many of those still in it !_ really ought to be able to look at things in a slightly bigger perspective. Ironically many of the Depressives would probably be much happier if we'd never actually made it to the Prem but were 'punching above our weight' as perennial playoff contenders....

We got to the promised land thanks to Steve Coppell - ( he was hardly supported, as most other managers, new to premiership, are)

Coppell got the very best out of a limited squad, with accepted a few jewels, but with little funds available whilst in premiership

The infrastructure - stadium - may be courtesy of the Lords of high , but nothing else... Coppell worked miracles and unfortunately Rodgers and now McDermott are expected to do the same ...without the jewels!

Very politely put Sun Tzu I thought.

For me, when some cretin calls the bloke who put everything in place to achieve what has been achieved over the last 2 decades a tightarse fcukwit because he won't gamble with his own money to the level said cretin thinks he should it actually makes me chuckle these days.

Whilst fans of clubs all around us are facing administration due to over-spending, plus suffering various humiliations heaped upon them by all manner of foreign owners, the fact that RFC supporters can be so incredibly and unutterably pigshit thick (not to mention ungrateful) is no longer a source of irritation to me, just a source of amusement.

Do you really believe that?

Let's look at each "claim" in order....

he (SC)was hardly supported, as most other managers, new to premiership, are)

Like Burnley, who aren't spending big money? Or like Hull, who have a aet of accounts that their auditors refuse to sign-off, because of the "financial black-hole" that they have no hope of filling. When Hull go down (whenever it might be) they will be in administration - that is absolutely guaranteed.

Coppell got the very best out of a limited squad, with accepted a few jewels, but with little funds available whilst in premiership

How conveniently you forget that money was available for SC when in the PL - the fact is that he decided not to use it, as he didn't want to disrupt he "core squad."

The infrastructure - stadium - may be courtesy of the Lords of high , but nothing else... Coppell worked miracles and unfortunately Rodgers and now McDermott are expected to do the same ...without the jewels!

Where are these jewels meant to come from?

I readilly take your points Sun Tzu, we were likely to have been a "yo-yo" club but I certainly didnt expect us to be a "yo-yo-yo" club heading a great speed to the heights of Div 1, but for the life of me I cant see anything being done to halt the slide. Madejski says, "We have a great squad" do we ?? our league position would dictate otherwise, no disrespect to McDermott and hell I for one am desperate to see us climb out of this present predicerment, but there should be someone in charge who has experience at times like these. Hell even Sky Sports came up with the best qoute yeaterday, saying "He had been appointed after cup wins against Liverpool and Burnley". Sod the FA Cup its league wins we need, the cup wins i agree have been great but all they have achieved is to put our better players in the shop window.

The majority of the faults aimed at Madejski are of his own doing, BR was the messiah manager, the most outstanding candidate, till he dared to suggest we improve our squad, then he was shifted out with us perilously close to the bottom three with no obvious replacement.

We lost, probably our most instinctive current striker, Noel Hunt as the season started, and should have replaced him as soon as possible rather than go with a group of strikers who, at the moment couldn't hit a horses ass with a barn door, it isnt like they have just stopped scoring, they havent been all season, there can be no argument with that.

For all the effort that Mcdermott and his squad put in there, from the outside, seems little urgency from the men at the top to stop the inevitable happening, if this is so the we will have another sale of the more valuable ones over the summer and find ourselves in a similar situation next season. For god sake if most, and I mean most, of the fans can see that why cant the club management

Burnley -yes in bottom 3.... Hull - thats as dodgy as Pompey given recent press and there is a balance in terms of budgets

How do you know money was available - hardly that Coppell was going to publicly state cupboard was bare
