Negative_Jeff The whole concept of live televised football is a disgrace. All supporters who attend matches are compromised in so many ways.
Why people embrace televised football then complain about switched kick off times is beyond me.
Scrap it all, pay the players and agents less, who cares?

If you put that question to Scudamore or many others they would come back with the response that without football on TV and the money it generates then the game would have gone bust long ago - the world-class stadia and the big-name players that the supporters crave so much are all down to TV money.

I don't have an argument with the concept - the problems for me are that too much of the TV money is wasted of ever-increasing salaries, and (most importantly) that the rise in TV money means that the TV companies call all the shots in match scheduling etc - match-going supporters have no say.

Negative Jeff

I live in Madrid. You'll never know the joy of watching the R's live on TV where the commentators can't pronounce the name of the teams, let alone the players.
It's one of the few things I'm eternally grateful to Mssrs. Berlusconi and Murdoch for.

I always expect, and understand why, our coverage is often marginalised on all channels but my point was that, as usual, ITV's coverage was of a poor, low budget quality irrespective of which team was being covered.

I have plenty of things to say about Aunties political bias but generally the BBC does a decent job of providing football highlights for those who don't wish to subscribe to SKY.

For instance, most BBC cup highlight programmes were on for well over an hour...................why can't ITV do the same? Surely running past midnight would not have damaged their advertising revenue whilst giving more time for analysis and better coverage of the smaller clubs.

PS. ASR, my point was not intended to be personal..................just my belief that ITV always aims for the lowest common denominator. If things are bad on the work front for you I'm very sorry to hear that.
