According to the Evening Post, Mark Nicholls scored twice for us 10 years ago against Bristol Rovers. I thought all of Burns' shite signings were burned into my memory but can't for the life of me remember Nicholls. Was he just a loan signing?

Has anyone else recently heard an old player's name mentioned and thought, who the hell was he?

We loaned him from Chelsea when Vialli was in charge for them. His best position is just behind the front 2. He impressed enough for us to make a bid of £400,000 but chelsea wanted £800,000, so we backed out. Never worked out for him after that and spent the rest of his career in the lower leagues. I think he's at Beaconsfield now.

IIRC correctly was only on loan to us for a short period of time (5 games?) during which time he scored one goal and looked a quality player. Then returned to Chelsea where he made over 30 first team appearances.

Now plays for the same team as my son, Bedfont FC (just over the fence from Heathrow!). Incidentally that team, who play in the Combined Counties (Tier 5 of the FA pyramid) is now managed by Neil Shipperley.
