RoyalChicagoFC
royalexile Moobs not knockers.

With every passing minute, btw, my suspicion that the original "article" is all just a spot of comedy writing grows

And not a half bad effort, I don't mind saying

Just reading it through again and I think we have all been duped by the one they call Starfish

To be honest I think it's actually better if Starfish has made it up.

I've broken it down (and have the analysis ready to post, if necessary), and it's really boilerplate The Onion, albeit with enough subtlety to make it plausible

But all of the right hooks are in all of the right places, and it's too clever by a fraction ("a forum with the name of a biscuit company" --ho ho)

Well done to Long for getting himself in shape and having a far better second half to the season so far - keep it up Shane and make me eat humble pie.

If McCormack is not the mate but meant to be the journo, then it's a spoof
cos I can't find any McCormack on the newspaper site, or in linkedin

Even if it's a spoof, I was right about Shane (and Jimmy)

In case it needed to be said, my suspicions neither arise from nor are expressed with any prejudice whatsoever toward any associated contextual matters or persons involved, much as the handwriting analyst who swiftly debunked as sheer hoax the Hitler "diaries" concerned himself solely with the authenticity of the document placed before his eyes and not with the accuracy or legitimacy of any rhetorical claims, assertions and conclusions made therein --and much less with the merits of the Führer himself

I really don't know why I am under suspicion here - I received a mail and passed the interview on. That the patrons of HNA? regularly read The Tipperary Star was something I doubted and I thought it would interest some of you. That the mate of mine who sent it to me would have bothered to fabricate something like this would surprise me greatly and if he did, then LOL at me. But as far as I know, the article is genuine - if I hear anything to the contrary, I will obviously keep the massive informed.

To be honest, I think the doubt of some is more to do with envy of Snowball - he gets a shout out and some of you are not taking it all that well. Which, frankly, is a pity.

Brian is my mate. Poor editing of the mail on my behalf.

Brilliant wind-up, if it is.

Great story, if it isn't.

All I'll say is that I searched the Tipperary site and couldn't find the story.

"Sorry no results are available please use a different search term."

I just searched http://www.tipperarystar.ie for "Brendan McCormack".

I want to believe this thread but . . . . .

Yup, nuttin' like the ol' green-eyed monster to elicit wholly unwarranted suspicion verging on unmitigated paranoia

I think Hans Christian Andersen AKA Starfish has been taking us on a little ride around some very scenic Bavarian castles this evening.

Does it make any difference if it's true or not?

Brilliantly crafted and hilarious wind-up if fake.

Highly amusing and interesting interview showing the potential power of Hobnobbers if true.

It's hard to disagree with Starfish's point about jealousy of Snowball. These complaints are only now being made because so many nobbers scorn Snowball's earnest nature. Well, if you want to influence events like Snowball has done, you have to put in the work as Snowball has done - who else was willing to put in the hard yards to prove just how effective a footballer Shane is?

Among my various beatings was the one that dared to say crowd support is seriously important.

This place isn't "the crowd" but I feel pretty sure what we say has an effect

I feel absolutely certain that the vast majority of players under 20
will read these pages, and I suspect many more senior players will too.

They SHOULDN'T but human nature is human nature.

Or put it another way, what chance of a slagging-off on here, especially if funny
NOT reaching the player via dressing-room banter and wind-ups?

Is it an accident that Kebe, until recently, played better away from home
or could his lack of confidence, as seen, reflect the way "fans" picked on him?

Criticism, preferably constructive criticism is one thing, but there is so much BILE
on the list, so often, as if HobNobbers simply HAVE to pillory some poor player.

There's a massive difference between not liking a player and outright viciousness
