Maguire You can only beat what's put in front of you and we certainly did that. Peterborough looked every inch a relegated side who were completely disinterested in being on the pitch today - if I was an away fan i'd be fuming that their players picked up a pay cheque this week.

So, great opportunity for the Reading players to express themselves, particularly Sigurdsson who looked excellent after barely touching the ball against Newcastle. I've never seen Reading score 7 so was a bit disappointed we spaffed away so many chances. Special mention to Shane LOLong for showing his true colours with that brilliant miss.

All players miss chances like that. Overall he had a good game...Won loads of headers against their centre half's and took his goal very well indeed.

I was just playing on my dislike of Long - Lord Jim missed chances too and he's the best player ever. Long was "okay" yday but I've seen him play a lot better this season. Not one of our better performers on the day this time round, but good enough.

Jimbo I thought some of Henry's passing was poor today. Simple passes were mis-timed or inaccurate.
Perhaps he's a little rusty, but there's something about him I just don't like, can't put my finger on it.

Anyway, great performance today, 4 or 5 players in with a MOTM shout, lovely sunshine, £50 discount on ST renewals, rum and coke at home.

I'm in a great mood!

thats how i feel about the lad,and hes had a long time to force his way in.
but im sure hell do well, he did look alot imporved bar the corner into touch etc.
some nice crosses, and took on the full back well. keep it up james. prove me wrong

Couldn't get to more than a couple of games this season for reasons previously documented, so thought I'd get a box for this one and invite friends and family. My 82 yo Mother's first ever RFC game, wife's 3rd game, youngest sister's 2nd. They want to come again!

Had a fantastic day, and even the lunch was brililant. Youngest son had a bet of 3-0 with Pearce scoring first at 76-1, was gutted for a second just after Kebe's goal went in. Not as gutted as me, I had us to win 6-1 at 50-1, and was cheering the lino who disallowed 2 goals towards the end, and was willing Mackail-Smith to pop a consolation in in injury time. AM convinced that the ref didnlt play the requisite added time at then dof the second half!

I missed the 6-0 v Sham with the flu, so I reckon this was the best RFC performance at the Mad Stad ever. Can't fault any of the players. Just how does Tabb win do many headers? Zurab is immense and just shows the gulf in class between Prem reserves and Championship 1st teamers. Would be great to get him next year. Ditto Griffin.

Daft thing is, we still need a clinical goalscorer!! We should have had 12, and Joe Lewis was MoTM for me. If we can keep this lot together for next year we may be just be in for an exciting season. Top 8 finish this season must be the aim, and after 23rd in December, it would be a fantastic achievement. Just wish the seoans started 1st Jan 2010. Have to say don't want it to end!!

Great day, great game, great team, great atmosphere, and great fans. Oh, and Mr Mad came up to the box at the end, and looked genuinely tickled pink. Fair play in getting rid of football's David Brent when he did.

Is it from the moment the board goes up? If so then no, he didn't.

Not just technically !!

And it's not even the number on the board plus 45 because

a) the ref might decide to add on extra time for any reason during the added on time
b) the number held up is only the 'minimum' and holding up a '1' could mean the actual time to be played is anywhere between 1' and 1'59'' !!

I'm sure someone can probably even add another level of pedantry on if they try

Posh version of Back from the game

http://www.theposhforum.co.uk/forumv2/v ... 8&start=75

I think that Reading put in the best 90 minute display from a championship side that I have seen this season, by a mile. They just ripped us apart.
Sometimes these things happen - witness the mauling we gave Brentford 7-0 and Accrington 8-1 in League 2. This doesn't and won't happen every week. We just happened to catch them at the wrong time!

It doesn't excuse the lack of passion that we showed - Reading 23 shots, Posh 3 (all off target) Corners 15 - 3, and possession 66% - 33% !!!

There are some great comments on that site. Such a turn around to conceding 3 goals away.

A pleasent day in the sun watching one team murder another.

Even though they were exceptionally poor we played well created some excellent chances and dominated more than you'd expect even against such a poor side.

I thought Tabb was outstanding and he and Howard were the ones who won us the game and made it the performance it was.

Henry showed why I quite like the look of him. He put in 3 or 4 balls that were real quality and were crying out for someone to get on the end of them. He also showed a couple of touches which might explain why he hasn't played more, selling Griffin short a couple of times and just looking a little too laid back at times. He's got all the ability, but just needs to apply it a bit better (Saturday probably wasn't the easiest game to come on and be fired up for though) and show a bit more determination. I thought he looked a little heavy as well, maybe like Long he's spent too much time in the gym whilst he's not been playing?

That's my problem with Henry in the bolded statement. To be a winger coming in to a game like that you should be licking your lips - I got the feeling he just wasn't that bothered and for the first 10 mins he was on was frankly utter toilet. Once he put his first decent cross in he perked up and put some excellent balls in but there was just too many instances of him selling Griffin short or a lack of concentration for me.

I don't see him making it at RFC and think he may move on this summer.
