Last time we had nowt to play for....

A few of us at work were trying to work out, when was the last season when on the final day we had nothing to play for, unless we'd already secured promotion/play offs. The last time we werent trying to win promotion/secure play offs/win european place/avoid relegation was 1999/2000, does that souns about right??

To be honest with the leagues being as close as they are now its probably more difficult to have nothing to play for come the last day of the season, or at least the run-in anyway!

This, obviously, added to the fact the team has been on a monumental rise for the last 10 years.

Thats tvery rue, if you look at the table of that 1999/2000 season all the play off teams had 80+ points and Bristol City finished in 7th place on 80 points. Not like that any more.

We might not have but Watford could have a squeaky bum time if we win on Sat. The Palace and Wednesday game could be of real interest then.

Watford could be safe on Saturday even if we beat them...as long as both Palace and Weds lose on Saturday as well, then they will be safe, regardless of what happens in the last game...

03/04 - Very slight chance of play-offs.
02/03 - Play-offs.
01/02 - Promotion
00/01 - Play-offs
99/00 - Nothing

We have to go back 10 years. For all that can be said for being a Reading fan, it's certainly not boring.
