Matejovsky in the Metro today

by purleyroyal » 28 Apr 2010 14:01

that's the newspaper not the car - because he's pictured proudly in front of his Skoda Octavia Estate.

Guess there's lots of jokes to be made but fair play to the guy (described as our star midfielder by James Day, who's obviously a fan - reading this? - because he interviewed Marek 'on a recent visit to my football team's training ground'). It is a Czech car after all, the firm sponsors his old team and his wife worked for the factory.

As Marek says, ' It's not a very expensive car but it's a good car. Footballers don't seem to make very good drivers, they are always caught speeding or involved in accidents, this is much less likely to happen in a Skoda. It's also perfect if you don't want to be noticed.'

Marek's choice of car pretty much mirrors his own performance in a reading shirt

Why have they kidnapped a Yorkshire midget?

In all honesty Skodas are pretty good cars now-a-days.

Skodas these days are a far cry from what first appeared over here 30 years ago. Good value and under-rated cars in my opinion.

I know things aint worked out for him here, but I love Marek.

Just like Bryn and Ivar he comes across as so down to earth, appreciates everything he has had.

Don't expect him to be here after the summer, but certainly hope he goes on the better things.

The whole hooker story obviously makes him even more of a legend!!

Both ignorant comments unless you are referring to great reliability, quality, performance and value for money.

I reckon independent experts would say the same about the car and the player.

Few take the p out of my Octavia vRS when they see the spec and how it performs!

Skodas? Volkswagens? Audis? Seats? All made out of the same bits. Skodas are just cheaper as they are made in the Czech Republic.

Shame Marek will be off this summer really, I quite like the bloke.

Err how is £1.5mil value for money on an inconsistent midfielder, who has never managed to hold down a place in the team. Can't really think of one game where hes bossed the midfield. For all his 'great passing ability' what impact has he really had since hes been here?

Another expensive flop im afraid.

(He is a likeable bloke though!)

most have tagged marek to be the first out this summer sadly, a luxery player we cant afford, be good in a winning free flowing prem team but sadly not in a championship dog fight. :(
