Which opposition player....

by AbovetheI » 13 Aug 2010 07:55

....is/was Reading's biggest nemesis?

In your opinion. The one player who has made you think "oooooh shit, I hope we mark him out of the game"

For me, it can only be Peter Hoekstra

George Jones of Bury scored something like 500 goals against us. In recent years I think that it would be difficult to look beyond AJ as mentioned by Big Foot.

Andy Johnson is a gr8 call.

When Defoe was at Bournemouth he always looked a proper handful too. Everytime he got the ball you had a feeling he'd score.

Yep. Guaranteed to score against us.

However, I also offer you every statistically shit or over-the-hill striker in the division - Jon Stead, Dele Adebola, Clinton Morrison...

Andy Hunt is good call.

I always thought Danny Shittu had a good games against us - had Doyle in his pocket every time, not many defenders could say that.

I never enjoyed coming upagainst Ben "FatBoy" Burgess. He always seemed to get the better of the two Adies.

The original bogey team and player. In 70/71 he scored four at Elm Park in a 5-1 win and just settled for the hat-trick in the 5-1 win at Gigg Lane.

That's the one that immediately came to mind when I saw the first post.

To make matters worse, Jones hardly scored against anyone else other than us.

I remember that home game very well. It's the only game I have ever tried to leave early. This was easier said than done, as the gates were locked to prevent people sneaking in.

Don Goodman, always was a nightmare against us, many memories of the play-off final where he "won" so many free kicks and scored the equaliser to take it to extra time.
