Fees to Agents

by Far from the royal crowds » 18 Aug 2010 13:04

I don't think this has been posted elsewhere...

The Football League has released the summary of agents fees for the 2009 - 2010 season

http://www.football-league.co.uk/static ... 687,00.pdf

We paid £476,735 in fees, compared to Newcastle's £1,073,076 and Blackpool's £40,000

What you have to realise is that the Madman acts as an Agent for the team so that he can milk more dosh out of the Club.

Unbeknown to the FL it is third party ownership.

Real Facts. Nice money if you can get itttttttttttt

I hope for your sake that you can show this to be true because, if not, you could find a writ flying your way.

I am no fan whatsoever of his Ego but I wouldn't accuse him of anything like this!

Sit a few exams, read through some legal stuff and that should do it

What a lot of rot SDR. There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever to back up your "facts" and actually there's a lot of evidence to the contrary.

We all get that you don't like Mr Mad - in fact, you never seem to like anyone connected with the club, but that doesn't give you the right to make stuff up about people just to suit your own agenda.

I'm quite surprised how high the number is. Presumably we don't pay agents for transfers/loans out, just transfers/loans in and possibly renewals. So £470k for Mills, Jobi, Rasiak, Griff, Kish,Williams, Cummings, Howard and maybe Bertie. The breakdown would of each would be interesting to see.

If a fee was paid for each of those players then the total doesn't seem that high. Agents have to make a living, you know!

Also, I wouldn't bet against an agent inviting payment to smooth the passage of a player away from RFC. 'He doesn't really want to go but I might just be able to persuade him, if the terms were right for all of us.'!

Given the way Rodgers conducted himself in the Smith affair, and the fact he spent a long time at Chelsea, and the amount of money we spent and number of players we signed under him... I'm not surprised we spent a lot on agents. Especially when you add in the three loanees under McDermott.

Clubs shouldn't pay agents - the players should.

damn right, dont mind clubs paying the PFA but independent agents should be paid by the players as at the end of the day thats who that work for.

More idealistic than realistic. Even if introduced the clubs, would still end up financing it indirectly as players would want bigger signing on fees etc. to finance their additional expense. The players hold all the cards and nothing will change until everyone realises that they are vastly over-rewarded, under-worked prima donnas and do something about it.

Yes, they have shortish careers but why the feck can't they then get another job like anyone else would have to do? As the number of unemployed increases there will be plenty of very talented/qualified professionals/managers in other fields who will end up working in quite low level jobs to support themselves and their families. Why should former footballers be any different?

clubs employ agents to look for players as well as sell them, players also employ agents to find them a club or negotiate a contract

Sir Dodger

I gather you might be out of work yourself soon so don't go upsetting your more successful peers.
