2 world wars, 1 world cup
juanpablo not sold to soon imo as the money was decent

however Gylfi jumped ship to quickly from a personal point of view surely the prem was the place to go

Agreed. Gylfi's greed will be his downfall.

Lost in the barren wasteland of the Bundesliga from an early age instead of getting more of a name for himself here either with us in the Prem or going to Arsenal or someone infinitely better than Hoffshite.

Good riddance to him.

I really hope that's a joke. because otherwise it's a load of rubbish.

Hoffenheim are bankrolled by a billionaire and have real aspirations of Champions League football. Sigurdsson will be able to play a big role, playing at a high level. It's an ideal stepping stone for him, and gives him a much better chance of avoiding dreaded stagnation on the bench for a top-half Premiership team.

Plus, "greed." Come on.

Rodgers has to be given a fair bit of credit for Sigurdsson.

He was the one who gave him the opportunity in the first place.

Yes, but he did keep dropping and subbing him. I think (said without checking) Brian always picked Gylfi if he was fit.

Its a great move for Siggy. Will always keep a look-out for how well he's doing. I hope he goes on to much greater things. Like many other fans I will really miss watching this talented young footballer flourish at our club.

Yeah the Bundesloliga's great.I bet Real Madrid signed Khedira and Ozil on the strength of their performances in the Bundesloliga and the World Cup had nothing to do with it . After Englolands failure at the World Cup every league is better than the Premier League seemingly.

You gotta let a man exercise the principle of sour grapes

I do believe Germany was the wrong move for him though.

Srsly?

Germany's the home of cultured midfielders. There probably isn't anywhere better for him to be.

How on earthe can it be JM's fault , lets get real people

by marekisgod » 31 Aug 2010 20:18

Dont get me wrong im as diasppointed as the next person about Gylfi leaving , but put yourself in his shoes and the clubs .

If you were Gylfi would you stay at Reading on supposedly £5000 a week or go to a top German side for £15000 + a week and playing top flight football each week and possibly european football next year ?

If you were JM or a member of the Reading management would you want to keep a player here who has been offered 3 times hos salary and top flight football , thus making him a sulky 20 year old who would be gone by xmas anyway and pocket 6 million to boot to help keep afloat a football club that is not exactly breaking even .

Do we really want to be another Portsmouth , so please lets all get real and move on from Gylfi wish him well and hope we carry on without him .

Feel free to labast me but you need to think about whats more important !

Then I'm probably wrong.

I'd have just thought a Premiership career is worth more financially.

Uber 'greed. The Bundesliga is a very high standard and Gylfi is now at a club that can push for a European place. LOL @ anyone thinking a team in the bottom half of the 2nd tier in England is better

its not him going that upsets most people, its the fact that so much money has come into this club since the PL days, but virtually sod all as gone out yet all we ever keep hearing is the club is in debt, FFS other clubs seem to manage to sign top players without going into the red, the fans ain`t stupid, and Im sure many will very soon be staying away, then Mr moneybags will have something to moan about.

Why oh why do idiots like you have to mention the worst case scenarios like Portsmouth. We are not remotely in the shit compared to them and could have kept hold of Siggy for another season with a debt that frankly compared to many clubs constitutes loose change.

thats a bit too sensible for on here mate.

The dreamers think that because Mr Mad is rich, he should fork out and sign Messi, Rooney, Ronaldo (not the fat one) Gerrard et al.

You and I (and more importantly, JM and the board) know that this is not the way to run the club, that we are not going to buy our way back into the PL and if we get back, it will be by getting a team of youth and journeymen to perform consistantly above expectation.

Back the boys and eat the pies :D

come on you Rzzz
