Our support is AWFUL at home.

Good to know we're still capable of coming up with witty chants though.

Takes me back to my chantstarting days...

Palace fans seem to rate themselves don't they? Maybe it is all they have to hold on to, because nobody rates their team. I've been to Selhurst several times, they do try to drum up some atmosphere at home but they are deluded if they think that they have a particularly vocal fanbase. Their 'ultras' group's collection of flags and banners is pretty naff too tbh  .

Our atmosphere has always been 50/50 at home. We either have a good atmosphere or don't.
Though, the atmosphere is very good for big games at home.

Interesting reading their forum. Seems they made a bigger deal of the 'trouble' at/after the end off the game. seems like most of their fans are pretty pissed off with the minority giving their club a bad name. Can't fault their vocal support though, well compared to ours anyway

What do you expect when you support a middle-class, prawn sandwich munching, happy-clappy football club. To be coompared with Watford must be the biggest insult going. Makes me laugh though when they criticise the stadium and the town. Croydon is hardly suburbia is it! That is a town devoid of any decent pubs and restaurants.

I've never eaten a prawn sandwich at football (though I've been known to partake in Sainsers' immaculate lunchtime triple) but there's no escaping my middle-classness.

Maybe that's why I'm completely 'meh' about ratings of our support from other clubs. Sometimes it's fun to join in with one of Floyd's left-field chants about working at a till in the Tesco Express on London Street at an away game, but more often than not (particularly at home) I want to watch the football. That's why I go, to watch football. I don't go to shout at the oppo or lay in to my fellow fans for being rubbish...

But that's the game now - like it or lump it.

LOL @ all the Palace fans on that forum saying Reading fans are a bunch of chavs. They need to take a look at themselves, they were the ones ripping the netting up and trying to get into the East Stand.

Crackin' song though, did make me chuckle.

awful atmosphere yesterday, I sit in the West and concluded that the East stand was so outsung it wasn't even worth competing. Palace fans were evening singing throughout our goal celebrations!

Managed to catch the East stand singing 'you're not singing anymore', but only the tail end of it as Palace fans were singing too loud to hear it over in the West....

Palace fans yesterday were great and frankly deserved a better team performance, I guess they were just happy to still have a club to follow and it would have been a real treat for them to be in a decent stadium for a change

We always used to raise our game against bigger noisier away support, so why has that changed? How many Palace turned up? 3000?
If so, it's the same age old problem at the Madejski of a large up for it away end all behind the goal and the noise always has drowned out that little 1/4 of the East Stand. Only when we started filling the stadium and only gave 2000 allocations to visiting fans did we ever really out-sing the away support. So much so that the pundits praised us numerous times in the Premiership. Not enough Reading fans are passionate enough imo. For me, going to football is 50% watching the game and 50% trying to win in the stands too. Give everything, make as much noise as you can, get a rise out of the away support and out-sing them. It doesn't have to be physical, it's just banter, and we all too often lack it, sadly.

The reason it lacked atmosphere yesterday was that - despite the result - there was seldom much to cheer about. For the most part the football on display was a bit average. The two teams largely cancelled each other out, and the result flattered us.
I'm happy to take the 3 points, delighted we've now got a decent defence, but I'm still not convinced we've got an adequate strike force.

Somehow I don't think Millwall away on Tuesday night will be as boring.

Bit off the mark.

We've always had a good atmosphere.

 That's what the attendance would be if you took away the self-identifying "middle class".
