Maguire Depressing stuff though.

Come on Sheikh Al-Bin Laden, come and put us out of our misery.

I don't find it depressing. It's reality and it's exactly the same as we've been living with for at least the last three seasons.

Have to agree with this, it will continue to be the same until we have new ownership

Oh woe is us, top 10 finishes for ever more and two play offs for every three seasons.

doesn't really work like that, does it?

You can't claim finishing third with a team stacked with Prem players who have just been relegated is a predictor of future seasons

4th Mags, I think I'd be safe in saying most getting relegated do worse. And I'm not the one predicting we'll be getting the same until we get a new investor... just pointing out that would hardly be a bad thing now would it...

roadrunner Surely we have kicked most of the debt after promotion into touch by now?
.

Yeah, its laughable honestly. " things will have to change' - yes they will, you can reinvest some of the 30million we've already received for doyle, kitston, sonko, shorey, sig, matejovsky, bikey, cox( after his sell on fee) and henry, not to mention the massive drop in wages. We are not taking anymore of this selling and not replacing nonsense, things will have to change by us actually investing and showing some ambition for a change, so he's quite right.

3rd, 4th, whatevs. Your post implies that we're going to carry on getting in the top 6 in two out of three seasons even if we sell our best players. i don't think we will.

CayeneMatt So in the interview he says ...

"If we don't make it to the promised land then things will have to change but that's the nature of the beast I'm afraid."

Here's to hoping - I hope he f*cks off.

You seem to be failing to understand I'm not saying we'll do anything like the sort... I'm being sarcastic at an STG.

Brillaint Madejski, what timing you have to start blurting that old crap 3 days before a play-off semi  talk about it in June eh

Club needed £4m start of season to cover costs, sold Sigi £8m plus, had a good cup run and will receive parachute bonus of £ ? (£4 million I heard ) .

"If we don't make it to the promised land then things will have to change but that's the nature of the beast I'm afraid."

Explain yourself Madejski ( but leave it 3 weeks until after the play-off final because that's what everyone else is concentrating on) because it ain't about the money, if players are sold that whole amount should be re-invested, absolutely no excuses this time.

Where's the black hole this year then?

1. £7M for Sig
2. A cup run the quarters again - including 2 live TV games and extensive highlights. Cannot have been budgeted for
3. Play-offs - increased revenue again - as above
4. League gates - must be at least the same as they would have forecast.

Its either one of 2 things - SJM is seeking repayment of loans (which next set of audited accounts would confirm) or completely incompetent management by the people running the finances of the club.

"Things changing" (if we don't go up) may mean "Shane will go"

and that might be because we upped his money, and can't pay those levels for another year in the Championship

Or we are paying wages we can't really afford (as people insist here we should do) and rely on selling to pay off the shortfall.

We had a £4 million shortfall predicted for this season. OK, the Gylfi money cleared that, and a bit to spare, but we'd be on target for an income shortfall of the same amount next season too unless anyone this our wage bill will be £4 million lower next season.

The fact of the matter is that we are an average club for this division, and any finishes above mid table are a bonus.

Yes, it would be great if we had a chairman who said "here you are Brian. Here's an extra £10 million from my own pocket", but anyone expecting that is living in a dreamworld. Quite frankly, anyone who can't see we've massively overachieved since coming up in 2002 is blind, and anyone who thinks only such overachievement is acceptable, is an idiot.

To be fair - Arab sheiks and the odd foreigner aside, not many chairmen pump their own cash in to a club on an ongoing basis. After the initial purchase or investment, thats normally it.

On another note, BM said after the Sig sale that it would allow him to bring in a few players on loan and pay their wages. So what would Zurab and Leigertwood be on a week? And Harte only cost 150K, money well spent imo, but I bet his weekly pay packet isn't to be sniffed at. Those 3 alone could be costing 1-2M a year?

Why on earth did he make the comment then Dimwit other than to prepare for a let down. Perhaps if he dropped his egotastical price tag he might get rid of the club and us of him.

He has absolulely no interest in taking this club forward in football terms but will agree to the sale of players to benefit John Madejski.

You want a conspiracy Ian? where's the ( Sigi ) money gone ?

That would really be depressing.

Long will go to the Premeirship for a few million, we will probs lose Kebe for pennies and a keeper will go, but things shouldn't be too bad this summer. We'll survive.

To be honest you could give each sceptic the actual facts and figures for the accounts up to the present day from the moment SJM bought the club and there are many on here who wouldn't believe them

It actually hacks me off that so many people, even when presented with the only information that can realistically be relied upon - that from within the club - still spout their pre-ordained bullsh*t because the information on the balance sheet doesn't support their view. They seem to completely ignore the fact that their argument is flawed because it only takes into account the recent past - ie, the PL years to the here and now.

And the club's finances is all one conspiracy

Pathetic really.

The reality is we have a large squad by Championship standards and if we don't go up it will have to be cut back. However there is a strong nucleus of young players who are emerging and they will, by and large still be here next season. Whatever happens in the play-offs we can surely be positive about next season.
