Kebe + little... Occasionally switching wings, that would give full backs quite a few problems! Sad to say I'm too young for gilles, but have seen the videos of division 2 promotion.... Not quite sure kebe is quite that good yet but if he can be as consistent as he was getting it's inevitable he'll get better..... Hopefully for us!

FUKCING NO WAY

Cobi No. I much preferred Gilkes. His crossing was hit 'n' miss but he was a great winger. I used to love how he'd collect the ball, knock it ahead of his marker and he was gone. The Southbank would react immediately. Really miss having a player like him in the side.

Z175 To me Kebes not even better than Little yet.

Um, obviously? I'm not quite sure what your point is there... I mean, if someone created a thread called "Archie or Long", you wouldn't say "Long isn't as good as Friday".

Little>>>Convey>Kébé>Gilkes>McAnuff>>>others for me. Kébé and McAnuff will probably move above Convey and Gilkes respectively if they win us the playoff final.

Ian Royal I never saw Gilkes at his best. Kebe is a country mile better than the Gilkes of 95 onwards. By then Gilkes really was essentially just all pace.

Gilkesy was only ever 'just all pace'.

He ran so fast it cut off the blood supply to his brain.

Jimmy the Shimmy has the pace but with an added ingredient - there are times he has no idea where his legs are going - how the hell does a defender work out where they're going ?

not for me.. Gilkes is my favourite RFC player off all time! Be interesting to see gilkes in his prime in a race with kebe now! Think Gilkes would take him all day long though...he was lightning!

Of course Gilkes would take him - Kebe's injured.

I think that's all he ever was - actually thought 95 was one of his best years. Quinn/Gooding switched him to wing back in a 5 man defence with Darius as sweeper and worked really well during playoff year.

Not as much as the people in the Tilehurst End by the Programme shop.

There are times when Kebe's skill, pace and unpredictability let him do things that Gilkesy (much as I liked him) could only dream of.

Acceleration: Gilkes >> Kebe

Pace: Kebe > GIlkes *I think*

Footballing ability: Gilkes at his best slightly> Kebe at his best so far BUT we've probably still to see Kebe peak.

Would love the acceleration and pace of Murty, Gilkes, Kebe and Long all in team *drools*

The Real Sandhurst Royal Run, run, run Gilksy.

You're one run short there.

Gilkes was no full back - he could fill in there but his positioning was awful and he relied on his pace to get him out of trouble.

He could play wing back where the defensive aspect isn't as important.

As as been said Gilkes was only ever about pace and for a couple of seasons at least he was our only real attacking threat which the other teams knew but most couldn't do anything about. He only really had one trick which worked more often than not.

I would love to see him nowadays with the rules the way they are - too often he was kicked out of a game with a "good ol' fashion" whack from behind.

For me it's a toss up between the two - if it's for ability then I think it has to be Kebe but for end product then at the moment it's Gilkes - however Kebe's got time.

"run, run, run, run Gilkesy"

BTW He would've been quicker if it wasn't for all the gold teeth weighing him down - something the league insisted on much like handicapping in horse racing and touring cars

For all the comparisons about skill etc, personally I'd like to see Kebe just push it round the fullback and run past him a few times, rather than trying to always beat him with skill.
