Ian Royal Thought both penalties were dodgy.

More conclusive proof that Ian talks complete horseshit.

Finch It's funny how someone hundreds of yards away and a bit wonky after a few drinks thinks that they know better than the referee who was in a much better position to judge.

If you are referring to me, haven't touched a sniff all day, and as I have stated, it was the prevention of allowing us to play that has irritated me, blowing for everything, while blowing for nothing when Swansea had the ball. Seemed very 1-dimensional reffing to me, to the point where his reaction to everything was predictable after 10 minutes.

It was directed generally at RTGs.

The alledged 'biggest game in football' reffereed by a typical 'look at me' ref...granted he got some decisions correct, yet at the same time a similar incident in the other half of the field goes unpunished...consistency 1...

The game was supposed to be about the two sides...and not the referee as it so often is these days...

Look at how Webb handled the semi...I wish they could clone him and do away with the likes of Dowd et al...

TheMaraudingDog Nothing like a bit of dignity in defeat.

RL, to see how grown ups handle defeat please see United Barca thread 8)

Clearly, the grown up way to handle a defeat is to toss yourself off posting multiple threads on the message board of a team a division below you during their play off final.

Sadly, whilst it may excite you for a few hours, when you've finished, Man Utd will still have lost 3-1 and been utterly humiliated on the biggest stage and you won't actually feel any better, just made yourself look an utter tit.

But Kes thinks you're cool.

As others have said, to not be awarded a single free kick in an entire half in surely unique. Add to that the booking of two of the back four within 15 minutes, thereby compromising them for the rest of the game and I think it's fair to say Dowd had a major influence on the outcome regardless of the voracity of the various penalty awards and claims.

The fact that he saw fit to send two off at half time adds to the impression that he felt he was a big fish in a small pond today and it should all revolve around him.

Self proclaimed voice of reason doesn't suit.

As a plastic I had the benefit of 'relatively sober' review of the pens in slo-mo.

Neither looked like a pen in real time, but the first was most definitely conclusive in replay. The second was never a penalty. Griff used his body strength to turn as the ball came in and he never made any movement towards the attacker.

Having said that, I could see nothing wrong with the floppy fringed Italian making a genuine attempt for the ball when Skippy went to hoof it...... dangerously close, as always, to the edge of his area where a sharp lino may give handball.

Kish was lucky to stay on the pitch after 25 mins and I would love to know what Gibbo and Tabb said to the self important Dowd at half time.....

Is this the same game Rother watched, in slow motion, from every angle?

Because he thought both were stone wall penalties and that everyone who watched it in slowmotion would think that. He couldn't be wrong, can he?

After watching the game live, I thought Phil Dowd was appauling today, very one sided for the majority of the game, he made our players almost scared of making tackles as they knew that they would be booked. I watched the game on sky when i got home, and my opinion hasn't changed. I lost count of the amount of decisions which were given against us, Long being penalised for jumping with a swansea player on his back, Griffin being booked for winning the tackle (even the commentators said it wasn't a booking), Leigertwood being tackled from behind and getting nothing.
I think it is no coincidence that the period when we were getting free kicks, and could tackle without being booked, was the period when we played our best football.
The pens, fine, the 1st one i thought it wasn't live, but after i saw a replay and it is a clear pen, the second one was definately a pen, even live.
Still...at least we scored more than one goal at wembley, didn't get embarassed by a team we were 'sure we could beat' , and our season has actually been a success, higher finish than most of us expected  Or have to spend our time on other teams forums because its oh so boring following our own team

It took you a while to show.

Most here aren't blaming the ref for the final result, I think the consensus is Swansea just edged it. The manner of how they so is the issue and the fact that the game ended up focussing on the ref for a lot of the crowd, which took away from the enjoyment.

I'm not wrong. Take a look at the slow mo vid (linked above) yourself and tell me that's not a pen!
