Le Fondre

by The Glory Days :( » 27 Aug 2011 01:32

SSN say we are closing in on a deal; 2 divisions jump may be too much for him to come good this season? Although hitting the net is a talent.

Thoughts?

No worries. If you get a mod in a good mood, this may end up being the official Team Board Le Fondre thread. It could go for years....

....or?

Having seen his goals on You Tube (and there were so many it felt like I was watching a feature length movie!!) he's already far too good for League 2.

He honestly does remind me of being similar to cureton, if he can come close to that, its a good signing

Marcus Williams has no future at Reading (didn't even make the bench for the Charlton debacle), he'll go as soon as an offer of any sort comes in. If he's still here this time next year I reckon we'll be looking to mutually agree a deal to terminate his contract.

With regard to Adam Le Fondre, if he does sign, wonder how long it'll be before the idiots on here start slagging him/the club off for not showing ambition/not being good enough/not scoring shedloads every game.

By the way isn't fondre the French word for melt?

Yes. Not sure we should read too much into it though. It's also to do with smelting and metalworks - as in foundry, which is probably the reason for the name. Rotherham an appropriate place I reckon.

I agree with the fact that his days may be numbered, however he is currently out injured which is why he missed the Charlton game.

I am genuinely very excited by this signing, and for that prices you can't go wrong really. We need a poacher who can find the net and if we can give him the service I'm sure he'll be a hero here!

Has he signed yet? My mate who is a bitter Chesterfield season ticket holder describes ALF as a 'bag of w**k'. As for me, I'm excited about this deal and really hope it comes together!!

Didn't know he was injured however, Marcus does not appear to be putting any pressure on Ian Harte to take his place, if he was I'm sure we wouldn't have signed Mills. Even last season we were playing players out of position if Harte wasn't available.

Le Fondre has bagged goals by the shedload for Stockport, Rochdale and Rotherham, surprised no-one's tried him out at a higher level earlier although we were looking at him last December apparently.

Whether he's good enough remains to be seen but at 350k it's worth checking him out.

By the way Adam is looking to complete the round trip of league clubs beginning with R (is he the first player to do it?)

With Reading's past record I will not allow myself to celebrate this signing until I see SJM return his expensive pen to his pocket before clinging uncomfortably long to the players hand and offering him some serious looking advice.

If that happens I will look forward very much to seeing Le Fondre in the half hoops of Reading.

I'll be interested to see who partners him up front. Certainly if we provide decent crosses he will get goals.
