Unfortunately this is not statistically true.

In the last 6 seasons - of the bottom 3 teams after 6 games - only two have finished in the top half at the end of the season – 16 of the 18 teams finished in the bottom half and 5 went on to be relegated.

The table is largely set after 6 games and it is very unusual for a team to have a good season after a poor 6 game start.

I voted yes. I think we'll manage to turn in around and with 40 games left we may just have enough time to claw back the points deficit.

While I think we'll be in a relegation scrap and have a hunch you may be fishing, this is clearly not the case. 7 points off the playoffs after six games means we're 2 wins and a draw away with 40 matches left, whereas 49 points off the play offs after 42 games means we'd be 16 wins and a draw away with just 4 games left. I know which position I'd rather be in!

Mind you judging by our performance on Saturday I have no idea where we'll get 7 points from.

'A couple' = Two items of the same kind; a pair. Sadly we have had considerably more than that now. As for stats, the attempts on target on Saturday certainly inject some perspective.
