SouthDownsRoyal we dont buy him

I agree. Think we could do better. Genuinely would rather get Maynard & he would cost less. Northern bloke moving down south doesn't always work out well either.

MmmMonsterMunch This is a direct quote from the Donny chairman:

'I don't know whether we can keep Billy here,' said Ryan. 'There has been a lot of loose talk and idle chatter surrounding the lad, so I want to set the record straight once and for all.
'When the window opens on January 1, Billy's contract with Doncaster Rovers will include a release clause priced at exactly £3m.
'Lots of clubs are circling. Southampton and Ipswich made previous bids. Anybody who matches that new figure can talk to Billy.
'Obviously, we don’t want to lose the lad at this vital stage when we are fighting to retain our Championship status.
'I've given my word to Billy, though. We have a gentlemen's agreement and any final decision on a move is down to Billy himself.'

Too much for us to pay IMO.

SSN rubbished this as the release clause is £1.8m, not £3m.

So the Chairman of Doncaster who brokered the deal is lying?

So you believe a Sky story over an actual quote? Fair enough! Seems pretty clear to me if the release clause is met then they have an understanding that Sharp can talk to the club. They clearly don't want him to leave.

It is really hard to know how good he really is as he plays in a poor team. He has scored 10 this season which is not a huge return compared to the 6 each for Church and ALF. Is he worth 3M - I doubt it. 1.8M possibly.

If we have loads of money to burn then worth a risk - but otherwise probably best to leave this one until the summer when his price will probably drop assuming no one else pays over the odds for him in the next few days.

Shirley, Sharp and Le Fondre are essentially the same type? Little poachers? OK, Sharp has scored some pearlers from outside the box too.

We need something a tad different, I think.

Church/Hunt/(Sheppard?) = Chasers

Manset = Asthmatic Ox

Le Fondre/(Williams) = Poachers

Baseya/Bignall = um...Tall ones...

Where's the pacey striker? Players in brackets are total guesses, but I'm not sure if Sheppard or Williams are particularly fast.

Oh just sell Church to Swansea and then bring Billy in, sod it.

Who is Shirley? I know the rest of the players listed but surely can't remember a Shirley in our squad?

Scary, isn't it. Although Baseya and Bignall do stretch the definition somewhat.

Definitely quantity over quality.

There are at least 6 in that list that would struggle to get a first team slot at most clubs in the championship.

Of course we have a great academy set up but the club itself was fast becoming an academy to other clubs. I don't particularly mind devloping these guys to go to a top club in the country but not clubs in our own division or in a relegation fight from the prem.

Hopefully the new money will bring in some much needed quality as well as keeping hold of the players that we have developed already.

Simon's Church I've had a rethink a this move has started to make a bit more sense. McDermott loved Long and has signed Manset, ALF and Sheppard recently so obvs has a thing for fatties.

Won't be long before we see Akinfenwa starting up front for us.

Southampton seem to think they're gonna get Sharp by the looks of things.
