Don't want to see reading in the prem. I assumed when they went down the first time they were on their way back to their natural level, sadly not.

Our natural level is higher than NON-LEAGUE Oxford.

Fair play to Oxford - some of their fans are happy to see us doing well.

Indeed - I'm sure that, for fans of clubs like Bradford, Swindon et al, knowing they reached the Premier League before Reading means so much!

D- for NFA - must try much much harder

Local rivals often seem to regard us only a recent success, and historically no bigger/better. . Oxford fans have long gone on about their 18 seasons in the 2nd tier it seems.

Well...this promotion means that we have overtaken Oxford to be the "Didcot Triangle's" most successful club ever. Prior to last night, they edged us with 3 top tier seasons. However, after four Championship seasons and a promotion we have now tied for first and second tier appearances, and, due to their non-league past, we beat them comfortably on third tier appearances!

The league record is now thus, assuming Swindon go up and Oxford do not:

1 - Reading, 3 Top flight (2006/07, 2007/08, 2012/2013), 18 Second tier, 56 Third Tier, 8 Fourth Tier
2 - Oxford, 3 Top flight (1985/86, 1986/87,1987/88), 18 Second tier, 15 Third Tier, 10 Fourth Tier
3 - Swindon, 1 Top flight (1993/4), 18 Second tier, 61 third tier, 5 Fourth tier

Statisical accuracy not guaranteed! For comical rivalry we can do our other two "rivals"

4- Aldershot (all incarnations of), 0 top flight, 0 second tier, 24 third tier, 32 fourth tier.
5 - Wycombe, 0 top flight, 0 second tier, 11 third tier, 7 fourth tier.

it may not mean much given our modern superiority, but its nice to be historically better too.

Also 92 years of unbroken league football. Same as Swindon the lowest we have finished is 16th in div 4 Swindon managed on two ociasions to finish bottom of the football league. Before relegation from the league was introduced. They have both won the league cup Swindon when nobody was interested in it whilst Oxford's was payed for by the money stolen from the Mirror pension fund. And lets not forget Swindon were demoted from the top flight after years of making illegal payments to agents and players. Who said good things come to those who wait?

'kin' 'ell! One of them seems to think they'd be in with a chance of getting MaccyD in as their manager if we struggle and he gets sacked. Or have I misunderstood his mental dribblings?

Nope, you did not misread that
When Reading eventually fire him which they inevitably will especially if the struggle in the PL under these new foreign owners then with his localish connection and ex player bit I'd like to think he might be one in the frame when a vacancy does arrive in the years to come - especially if we have managed to climb a league or two by then.
