Way back in the day , I used to have to make the odd trip to Leeds , to a company that were right behind Elland Road , In those days there was no maps or Sat iNavs so I used to find the place by looking out for the Elland Road Flood lights. One day the fcukers decided to install some kind of "in-roof" lighting and I got totally lost the next time I went up.
Ever since then I get a bit cross when-ever Leeds are mentioned :(

Platypuss Bet they're actually getting quite excited at the thought of their name being splashed all over the "best" league in the world next season. Incidentally how many clubs in the PL are sponsored by a solidly British brand like Waitrose and aren't a betting firm?

I didn't think they were sponsoring us next year?

Dick Habbin's hairdo
Wasn't Sniffer in the Barnsley team that got twatted 7-0 at EP with OLOLie Kearns leading the attack?

He was manager I think. It was reported he took the team down a coal mine the monday after to show them where they would be working if they played like that again.

Correct LP. He was manager at the time and he did take the players down a local coal mine. Michael Parkinson left EP when they were 6-0 down. IIRC, the Observer headline said "7 Up and Barnsley Bitter".

Waitrose signed a new two-year sponsorship with Reading in December 2010, which will include the team's 2012/13 season in the Premier League.

If we survive it's going to cost them a pretty penny to renew the deal....

OIC sure on the radio they were saying it was too expensive - suppose they meant next season

That would depend on how far Waitrose are prepared to be tight on the cost of sponsorship. Either way it will not be something that RFC have to worry about. The onus is more on Waitrose...for now.

For future reference:

Unless we added in a clause to hike the rates in the event of promotion to the Prem, it looks like Waitrose will have done very well out of this!

If we did agree to an extension without Premier League caveats and rises, then the commercial manager responsible for the deal really needs to be on a disciplinary!
