handbags_harris Reading 2-1 Wolves, April 97. Archie Lovell's finest 3 minutes.

+1

Because it was my first ever football match, and I wish I could remember more of it!

What an incredible first game to have gone to! Epic scenes on the West Terrace when Archie fired in the winner, lord knows what it must have been like in the South Bank.

Wigan play-off, Leicester & Brentford, and some of 93-95 Elm Park classics would be top of my list to experience again.

As with the Wigan play-off, there was massive drama at the end but for the previous 80 minutes, both games were pretty turgid.

I'd go for Tranmere away in 1995. As close to faultless as I've seen any Reading performance.

The Simod semi against Coventry. Was EP at it's best packed to the rafters. Best atmosphere at a game I've ever been to.

Mine would be that win against Wolves and Archie's goal.

I was on the Southbank. And it was absolutely bloody brilliant. What footy is all about

It was mental to be honest. It was prob only my 4th ever game or something but the crowd celebration was incredible.

Nottingham Forest away the season before last. One of the best games I think I've ever been to.

Any game from the start of the 85/86 season. There isnt any TV footage of the record run due to some strike, so being able to relive that would be pretty special. Preferably the Wolves game where we didnt make it 14, just so i can go back & see how many people REALLY were in the ground that night!

Easy, Like the Simod semi. I would like to know one day if the real gates for those games will be known. Post Hysel the capacity was supposed to be 15,000. Both those games you could hardly breathe the place was so packed.

For the 1978(?) Southampton League Cup match Elm park has 27,500 in (officially). Now *that's* packed!

blythspartan I have seen some really great Reading games over the last 40 years and also many dire games as well. There are lots of games I would love to see again like the second leg of the play off semi final against Wigan. However, If I could only choose one game to re-live it would be in the 1978/79 season when we beat Grimsby 4-0 at Elm Park and I am sure that John Alexander scored all 4 goals. That game made a great impression on me as a young Reading fan. What would be the one game that you would love to re-live?

Some photos to add to your memories:

Reading 3 Orient 2 69/70. Jack Mansell's wonderful passing team at its finest.
Reading 5 Tranmere 0 75/76. At last, a BIG performance against big rivals and THE goal.
Reading 4 Chesterfield 2 85/86. A hat-trick by God, an all-out assault on the Chesterfield goal, 25 corners to their 1!
Reading 2 Wolves 2 85/86. Despite not making it 14, an absolutely packed, rabid Elm Park made it a night to remember.
Reading 4 Plymouth 3 85/86. THE comeback and an excuse to tell the bloke in front of me on the Tilehurst End to stay and watch the last 25 minutes despite being 0-3 down.
Tranmere 1 Reading 3 94/95. The most perfect and clinical performance I had ever witnessed.
Reading 4 Wolves 2 94/95. WERE you watching, Mark McGhee?

For me it has to be an away game, there have been some crackers amongst the dirge but two that stand out are:

2011 Forest v Reading 3-4, a game the whole team and support just knew we would win and a perfect day out in the sunshine.
West Ham this year, that game alone got us promoted and some mental celebrations for the goals.

Also in with a shout was 2008 4-1 Bristol City away.
