Yeah, I'm sure it was 2-1. Brilliant night.

Southampton 1 Reading 3
2012 ...

We went top of the league. Went from believing we might be promoted to knowing we would be

And it went completely mental when Alfie scored his second to make it 3-1 deep in injury time

Maguire
bobbybottler Beating Bolton 2-1 in April 1995.

Midweek evening kick-off (which Elm Park often did better than MS manages to do now), EP was rammed and hundreds were LOLocked out before kick-off.

Two in-form teams went at it like a couple of hormonal teenagers who've just found out what their sexual organs are for, we ripped them open over and over again, Archie got an early one, they levelled in a fortunate manner in the second half, Simon Osbourne made a memorable goal-line clearance from an Alan Stubbs free-kick, then right at the end of a match in which the home support had sung itself hoarse, Gooding slipped Nogan through for the winner.

I've felt euphoric at Reading matches since then but never as much as at that moment.

That was an INCREDIBLE game. I don't think it was midweek though - have it in my head they moved it to a Friday night for reasons I never quite fathomed. We were worried we'd get locked out so just marched through the crowds outside the Southbank going "season tickets, season tickets" then dived in a turnstile.

Oh and Osborn's header off the line was from a Stubbs header off a corner in the second half (although Stubbs did strike a decent free-kick in the first half which Shaka saved)

Amazing stuff, those were the days etc

I had school, pretty sure it was a Friday night. Went with my brothers, propped up by the old programme shop. Main memory was the tens of people coming in over the wall behind me. Up there as one of my favourite games ever.

I have two from childhood that stood out. First was last game of the season, 2-0 down at HT, we turn it around. Keeper gets injured, so Senior goes in goal for his last game. Makes at least one immense full length save at 3-2. My memory is a pitch invasion and he gets absolutely mobbed.

Second wasn't for the game but Uri Gellar's magic card trick.

My memories are clearly not what they were but:
1) Did Senior also score in that game? More than once?
2) He wasn't just mobbed, he was chaired off because...
3) It was his last game for us

Further questions:
He'd been in goal for us before, more than once, but I can't recall who against - any takers?
And....he didn't actually let many (any?) in - any takers?

Yeah, last game, carried off. I also remember 3 away fans in the Tilehurst end getting moved on at HT.

I will have to check my records, but the 3-2 win after being 0-2 down was against Wigan. I think McGhee scored in that game and maybe Archie. IIRC, Trevor never conceded a goal playing as a stand-in keeper.

So many to choose from, been quite spoiled.

The 3-1 play-off win at Tranmere was an absolute master class.

The 2-1 win over Wolves with 2 late goals from Archie was deeply satisfying, as was the 3-2 win over Bolton around the same time.

The 2-1 win over Wigan in the play-offs was as ridiculous a comeback as we've seen at the Madejski.

6-0 Win over West Ham was pure brilliance.

Cannot pick out just one, just lucky to have seen so many great moments.

Royalclapper Doncaster Rovers 2 - 3 Reading 1984 Belle Vue.

Remember it being a cracker. I'm pretty certain that Lawrie Sanchez was on the scoresheet.
(I think the season earlier was a 7-5 reverse scoreline).

My Dad was at that one - Doncaster unbeaten at home all season, Reading unbeaten away all season and it was one of the last games of the season with both sides gunning for promotion. He also recalls the Donny fans coming down the pitch towards the away end after the game and making a rather hasty exit

Some of the best games I've witnessed:

Reading 3 v 3 Notts Forest 1997/98ish - Jamie Lambert looking like Pele, and Steve Stone with THAT miss
Leeds 2 v 3 Reading 1996/97ish - a league cup tie away to then one of the best teams in the country, having narrowly lost the year before
Reading 3 v 1 Southampton 1997ish- a cup tie, having beaten them the season before in the cup as well, and Dave Beasant getting sent off as well I think? I remember the South Bank absolutely rocking that night.
Reading 2 v 1 Wigan 2001 - Cometh the hour, cometh the Forster
Reading 4 v 3 Oxford 2001? - Rougier's finest hour
Reading 3 v 2 Palace 2005-06 - just a mental game
Reading 3 v 2 Middlesbrough 2006-07 - what a way to introduce yourself to the top division
Reading 6 v 0 West Ham 1st Jan 2007
Tottenham 6 v 4 Reading 2007-08 - just bonkers
Liverpool 1 v 2 Reading - to a man, they were brilliant that night, and Super Bryn's nutmeg and step over before the inch perfect cross for Shane Long is one of my all time favourite RFC moments

Caskey scoring; frozen pitch; Graeme Souness squaring up to the groundsman?

Reading 3 - Palace 2, Sept 2005.

The game that had everything, where you couldn't take your eyes off it for a second, and where the result was in doubt until the very last kick.

Some great suggestions, probably one of:

Reading 4-3 Oxford, the rain, Whitehead sliding off the pitch, mad last half an hour, Rougier the hero, sixth home win in a row, top of the league, pants day a distant memory
Reading 3-1 Southampton, Souness going mental, one of Caskey's best games for us, scored a good goal, is there a video of that anywhere?
Reading 2-1 Wigan, just a great moment when Forster scored to send us to Cardiff (doesn't quite have the same effect as saying it sent us to Wembley does it?)

Think its probably got to be the Oxford match for me

Blackburn 3 v 3 Reading - last day of the 06-07 season too. A fairly epic Random Inflatables day too - the JCB! Gunnar with a belter.

Reading 3-0 Wolves- the first time I saw Reading win with a bicycle kick goal from jimmy quinn and we stayed up
Reading 2-1 Wolves- archie double to come from behind
Bournmouth 0-1 Reading-the year bournmouth were unbeaten at home all season and mceeva i think his name was scored
Reading 3-2 Middlesborough - first PL game and a classic
