TheSiege To my mind, we have at least 5 potential gaps that could be filled in January. Were those signings the right people, we could have a decent Prem team for the last half of the season. Thoughts please?

Ultimately its the entire midfield both the CM's and wingers that are not good enough.

I think defensively we will be good enough (Except Gorkss), but it goes back to our midfield. When a defence is not protected by the midfielders and they have continuous pressure you will concede.

We need one fast winger like McCleary/Kebe/HRK that can break and the other winger to be more technical, someone who can cross and pass a ball. (Larsson type player)

Our wingers are just useless when retaining the ball, interchanging and moving inside to be more dynamic and most importantly crossing the ball.

If our game evolves around throwing in as many crosses as possible then we need to more creative and dynamic in the wide areas.

and there was me thinking i was going to get an in depth look at the team... What i actually got was a brief sentence, players described in the wrong positions and someone stating the obvious!... Oh and the host having a hissy fit because people won't respond "properly" !

Although, obviously, too much content for you to be able to make a sensible response to it. My observations are either right or wrong! Either give a sensible response or please, do'nt waste our time!

TheSiege GK Federici - had a poor start but is not a bad keeper at Prem level.
McCarthy - We knew he had potential and he was proving it before the injury. Prem class.

RB Cummings - Not the finished article, inconsistent at the moment. Cannot be relied upon in the Prem.
Gunter - Not my first pick as a new Right back but, can improve and knows McCleary well. Potential to become a Prem player.

CB Gorkks - A good call in the Championship where he improved us. Lacks class and positioning in the Prem.
Morrison - Home-grown and a revelation this season. A definate place in the 25 regardless of the Transfer window.
Mariappa - A good punt. Needs time to settle to a new team and a higher division.
Pearce - Home-grown and a favourite. Should have been re-contracted last season. Will leave the club in January or the Summer.

LB Harte - played a blinder last season when age had already caught up with him. Was never going to set the Prem alight!
Shorey - In terms of the players we brought in this season, I thought Shorey was the weak signing. Boy, was I wrong. Still Prem quality.

RW McAnuff - Captain and a trier but not Prem quality. A really good Championship player.
McCleary - Inexperienced for his age but talented. Needs to settle in and progress but a definate for the 25-man squad.

CM Leigertwood - Similar to Gorkks, a good call to aid us in the Championship but cannot step up a level consistently. Possible Prem squad player.
Guthrie - A class player in RFC's ranks and he needs to be allowed to play to his strengths.
Tabb - We all know he is'nt good enough but he still sometimes impresses with his attitude. Worth a squad place?
Karacan - My pick of the home-grown midfield players. Worth a place in the Prem.

LW Kebe - Infuriating, sometimes brilliant, but often injured. Still worth a berth in the 25.
Robson-Kanu - Solid but seemingly without football sense. Does not make the best of his attributes. 5th choice winger in a Prem squad.

CF Pogrebnyak - New club and not much service. Needs balls on the ground. Still our top scorer and Prem quality.
Roberts - A good reserve striker for a Prem club despite his years.
ALF - The nearest we have to a natural finisher. We need to improve aspects of his game but he is worth a place in the squad.
Hunt - A revelation in some ways but he simply does'nt score enough. Back-up in the Prem.

Others:-
Church - Not good enough at Prem level and already loaned out.
Gunnarsson - Too old last year. Should be in the coaching set-up.

To my mind, we have at least 5 potential gaps that could be filled in January. Were those signings the right people, we could have a decent Prem team for the last half of the season. Thoughts please?

Give up, you've been such a cock to everyone that even if you did have anything interesting to say (which you don't), then it's already too late because nobody cares.

TheSiege In terms of our wingers and which side they mostly play, I used my memory of the last few seasons

Laughable how despite Tabb and HRK's consistently good performances they're still labelled not good enough.

this is true, worst thing that could happen to reading is playing new signings like guthrie who wont put in the performances expected and become a team like qpr...i.e a few names to put on the teamsheet but amount to nothing on the pitch. the team has to be based around form because the prem is too tough to allow a player to try and gain form over a few matches. Pavel P should be starting and the team need to believe they can pass the ball into his feet, he clearly wants to score goals and works his bullocks off.

i think when ML and JT have been in the midfield we have looked strong. i heard that they have only lost 4 games when playing together and two have been in the prem....not a bad lil stat to have. got to remember that apart from one game (spurs) we have been 'in' every match not getting smashed
