Who Moved The Goalposts?
I take it you mean the season?

Skin
NTRoyal I can tell you exactly what McDermott will say if that helps?

"I've seen enough out of my squad to tell me we don't need to panic and spend money in Jan.. There are positives from the last few games and a few pieces we will be working on in training. We will be fine. Sunderland were awesome tonight and we were just unlucky to catch them at their best. Thanks."

Pretty much this. But I would like to add 'we take the positives and move on'.

MmmMonsterMunch
Rumpole The crazy thing is that if we'd just missed out on promotion McDermott would be winning regularly and happy and safe in his job. Punished for bringing success to the club.

Agreed. Poor git is being hung out to dry. However - I can't see how you just get the confidence back in a manager by dropping down a league.. it's too damaging.

Its the way of the professional game. You have to keep succeeding. He has not just failed, he has crashed in flames. Some of it not his fault but a lot is.

And if Anton and Madejski stitched him up on funding then he should show some pride and speak out.

RoyalBlue F8Cking Dellor is a complete moron. Completely excusing McDermott saying that he hasn't got the resources - whose fault is that? And that he is a tactical genius!

He's half right though - we have an average Championship squad and McD wasn't given the funds to create a PL squad. No manager can make this squad PL quality. Ergo, there is no point sacking him.

The only person pleased with that result tonight will be Arsene Wenger, after a tight game in the capital cup against a well organised and spirited Phil Parkinsons Bradford, he can only be looking forward to the match at the Madejski on monday against against the tacticly inept, spiritless, effortless shambles that is Reading

No, just being in the top flight doesnt promote it to the third best season. I would say last season and the 106 season are above both this and 2007/08 when we last went down

Who said he wasn't given the funds?

And he wasted the funds he was given.

I think Brian will be gone tomorrow. We are starting to look really embarrassing and so out of our depth even the owner must see that.
