Ball out of the Ground

by Tony Le Mesmer » 27 Dec 2012 10:37

Gr8 scenes as the balled cleared the East Stand roof yesterday. I was only half paying attention though such was the match excitement, was it Pearce? I can only recall this happening once before so who does he join in this select and elite club?

It was Gunter. He is just such an unbelievably bad player.

I think Sonko cleared the roof, but it hit the roof support and bounced back in. Thats the only other one i can remember.

Defo Pearce.

Sonko did it once and apparently two Chelsea players in the 1-0 Petr Cech game but I was abroad for that so can't corroborate.

Twice against Pompey last season, once was James istr, and someone claimed it had been done once before that as well.

I thought David James hit the roof but didn't clear it.

urz13 It was Gunter. He is just such an unbelievably bad player.

Oh right, i thought he had played well in a defence that has only conceeded once in the last 2 games. Who over lapped yesterday and fired in a couple of crosses, one of which lead to our best chance that was cleared off the line. Also he played in our other clean sheet at home to Norwich.

Only bad game i have seen him play is at Wigan

So is your problem with Gunter personal? or is this an example of poor football knowledge..

26 February 2005: LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP

...the highlight of the half was a Sonko clearance hitting the roof of the East Stand, which to my knowledge is a first at the Madejski Stadium!

Martin Hicks used to do that every week at Elm Park - stands obviously much smaller.

I read somewhere that Percy Freeman, an old forward from the 1970-s took out a line of washing with a mis-placed shot at the Town End

Love how Pearce nonchalantly tried to carry on with the game, but the grin got the better of him

Was Bristol City, and Jamo was indeed one of them, forget the second but definitely recall finding it funny that the ball had twice cleared the stands having waited years for it to happen.

Barry Hunter did it at Cambridge away in the warm up . Not very hard though, the stand wasn't very high!
