"Everything went well. I'm happy because I passed the assessment and it's now up to TP Mazembe and Reading to finalise the deal. When they do that, I will sign the contract right here during the Africa Cup," said the TP Mazembe player.

Zambia media still say £3.3m fee. Expect Reading to say 'undisclosed'.

Apparently, he will sign contract whilst competing in AFCON. Should hopefully turn out to be a decent signing.

Looks as though a deal is likely from Sky's 'sources' but doesn't tell us anything we don't already know:

Sky Sports understands Reading are preparing an offer for Zambia international defender Stopilla Sunzu after impressing on trial.

The TP Mazembe player has spent the last week training with Reading in the hope of winning a move to the Madejski Stadium.

The 23-year-old has impressed during his stint at Reading and Royals boss Brian McDermott is ready to push through a deal for the centre-half.

Sunzu has ended his trial at the club to link up with his Zambia team-mates for the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa where they kick off their campaign against Ethiopia on Monday.

McDermott has been busy in the transfer market having brought in Stephen Kelly, Hope Akpan and Daniel Carrico, and it looks like Sunzu will be the next new face in at the club.

So the door is still open for him to impress during the AFCON and another club nip in and snatch him away from us?

Why the delays?

And although just days away from kicking off the tournament, the Copper Bullets playmaker travelled to the United Kingdom to undergo a successful assessment with the Royals, and is expected to pen a deal with the club within the coming days.

Has this guy actually got a position? he's a ballwinning, good in the air defensive playmaker

Work Permit.

That doesn't stop contracts being signed 'subject to work permit'. That prevents any other club nipping in and signing him.

Also, with his international record he is virtually guaranteed a work permit anyway.

Dont really understand the delay

Comes for trial, offer him a contract at the end of the trial, go to the ACN signed just waiting on work permit - sorted

Unless Reading trying to do it on the cheap again

£3.3m say Zambian media. It sounds like the club want confirmation the permit is granted, just as we did with Pogrebnyak, and then we announce it.

Or it will get announced following a AFCON game where he gets dragged off on a stretcher.
