Tails It's of no surprise that the ones who didn't agree with this are from the disgusting generation of baby boomers. What a vile generation you lot are, it's a shame you vilify the kids today, they are too good for you and your 'wouldn't happen in my day'.

I'd rather have things like Saturday than the god awful neanderthal football fans we had in the 60/70/80s, GC you should be ashamed of yourself.

Better a baby boomer who questions the fact that there seems to be an over sentimentalisation rife in the world then from someone who seems happy to label millions of people as "disgusting " and "vile" just because of their date of birth.

I'd be even more worried if the "too good for us" kids, that incidentally we "baby boomers " brought up, decided to use your values as an example of how to behave.

I can give you plenty of reasons why this generation evokes these feelings....least of all your generations willingness to ignore the celebrities you so readily put up on a pedestal, as well as your generations input to the environment and the economy at present.

Selfish just doesn't do it justice.

melonhead tbf you have ruined the planet, and raised a bunmch of ungrateful greedy oxf*rd

From Wiki ( so it must be right :D )

"Boomers often are associated with the civil rights movement, the feminist cause in the 1970s, gay rights, handicapped rights,....."

As a boomer I will now hang my head in shame and disappear

melonhead

:D  :D  :D

ok m8.
id just rather you kept your vile and disgusting anti disabled views off here, is all.

So says the person (man?) who referred to me as a "spaz" in another topic.

I agree with GC on the whole celebrity issue but felt with Armstrong that he is one of ours who has hit on a very bad time and who now has a life expectancy of around age 55.
It felt like the right thing to do and as one of the baby boomers I was happy to join in.
I do feel that 1 minute is too long and 30 seconds of clapping is enough to get the feeling across.

In keeping with the self congratulatory style of your peers, you decide to omit the (citation needed) part of that quote.

Or more realistically you filed to read the whole extract, but thanks for clustifucking* your argument.

*Brought to you buy generation x...the generation who will always fail to live up to Time magazine's man of the year '66.

I can't speak for the other moderators but I'm not going to delete comments - I'm busy, I have a job to do and hobnob isn't it.

This is a discussion board after all and sometimes discussions go a little off topic, as long as they are not in breach of the board regulations they can stay.

At least the baby boomers on this thread are able to construct coherent arguments and avoid the classic buy/by spelling minefield.

Anyway back to the OP. I would have clapped on 3rd minute but I was late.

Gordons Cumming Did we clap or have a minutes silence when Dick Habbin died for instance?

I hope not. I don't think he's dead yet!

Do you think on Wednesday we can have 10 seconds of slapping our knees on 18 seconds to remember Stephen Hunt's Petr Cech moment.
(Feel I may be lightening a mood too far here, but hey-ho!)

And the answer to that would be a minute's silence - followed by a rousing "DDDDEEEEAAAAANNNNOOOOO!!!!!" from the Southbank.

The minute's applause didn't come in vogue until Alan Ball died I think
