G'La Where do you think Le Fondre stands in the England Selection scheme of things? Rooney, Welbeck, Defoe and Sturridge perhaps ahead of him at the moment???

Perhaps? Would say they're all miles ahead of him tbh.

He's competing with the likes of Holt, Lambert and Hooper for a spot in case one of those loses form or gets injured.

Oh, and Crouch.

Needs to carry on performing this season and do well next season at this level to have even a small chance of getting in a squad IMO.

If Jay Bothroyd call pull on an England shirt, then there is hope for all of us.

Think Lambert would also ahead of him unfortunately

ALF isn't good enough to start for Reading, never mind get an England call up.

He is more than good enough to start for us, he just doesn't suit the lone striker role which is McDermott's preferred option at the moment. I doubt whether there are any English players around at the moment who are better natural finishers but in terms of all round game he's probably down the list a bit.

I'd rather have Nugent.

Perhaps this explains some of England's struggles. Always packing the team full of 'stars' without giving consideration to role-players. Who better to come on when you need a goal in the last 20 minutes than Adam Le Fondre? I don't care what level of play it is, the boy can get it done.

What a player!

Lewington may have been at the Mad Stad tonight for Cahill, Terry, Lamps etc., but Alfie surely stole the show.

Call up status: IMMINENT

According to Snowball he is England's greatest ever striker.

Not to mention pinching his one goal off Defoe with the ball already halfway across the goal line.

Less fox in the box, more goal hanging carthorse

Lewington would certainly have left before the end. Not that that would make the slightest difference.

This is a good idea.

Publicise our best player on forums and the internet, harping on about an England cap, and how brilliant ALF is.....

Makes it easy to keep players in the summer, when lazy hacks find it easy to hype someone via data trawling, than bothering with going anywhere.

Jeez....

Life isn't FIFA people....

Thinking about starting an "I have a man crush for ALF" thread...

Just wow....
