I do wonder if age might be starting to catch up with him too...

He and Jason Roberts seem to be very similar in so far as they're too good for the Championship but not good enough for the Premier League. No confidence at the top level. Shame, as Gorkss always seems to be the Premier League bridesmaid.

i think he would have benefited from the change in formation and would have proven himself to be no worse than the other options we have, given a settled back 4 and some protection in front of him, if he had played

Hadn't thought of that, you may have a point. He was in the team when they were at their worst. Would be interesting to see how he'd do now.

I think we've all seen how good Championship players can step up and make the Premiership grade, such as Murty, Ingimarrsson, Sonko and the newer chaps. I'm sure Gorkss would have been the same given the same number of games. But we have more defensive options this time around so he's never going to get them.

Sad to see him go because he was awesome last year, but it's only right that he's allowed to move on.

Just remembered that "Gorkss 17" is what's on the back of my Reading shirt! Might make me look like a bit of a wally but oxf*rd it, he was incredible last year and I love him!

There's no way a replica shirt with a name on the back would make anyone look like a wally.

He was great last season but Premier league is too much of a step up for him as with other players in the team

Good luck to him - class last year and should be guaranteed a great reception from Reading fans whenever he returns

Exactly this ^.

The team improved significantly the moment we signed Gorkss last season and I thought he was hard done by not to get the player of the season award.

was probably one of the best 10 CBs weve ever had last year tbf

Ingimarsson, Primus, Upson (if you count loans), Sonko?, Pearce?, Mariappa?, Williams?, Khizanishvili??...

Ok, I'm really struggling now - reckon you could put a case for top 5.

Can't agree I'm afraid Brenders.

While I think he'd have been a bit better, as an individual he was looking off the pace and didn't know how to handle the movement of the better players.

Great Championship defender, limited at the top level. No shame at all in that and at least Brian gave him far more of a chance than Warnock. Still if we put sentiment aside, that decision could well end up haunting us...

not even counting upson. doesnt count. williams defo.
sonko is in, as his performances in the short period of his brilliance were incredible.
pearce and marriappa will be if they can keep us up.
i left a bit of wriggle room in case there were brilliant defenders i was unaware of in the distant past

possibly, i just think it looked worse cos he was so under the cosh for entire games.
sort the RB out, get a solid partnership going, increase the protection in front, and maintain possession longer and i dont think the panic would have happened.
but its all speculation, so i will let you have your opinion.
