Went to a few games late 80's but only really a regular from about '92 onwards so only included players from that era on...

...............................Hislop.........................................

.........Sonko.........Wdowczyk............Ingimarsson................

.........Murty........Sidwell.....Osborn....Harper....Gilkes...........

.......................KItson............Doyle..............................

Subs: Hahnemann, A.Williams, Little, Convey, S.Taylor, Shorey, Lita

Manager either Coppell (real substantive success) or McGhee (best football Reading have ever played). On balance for pure entertainment McGhee.

I am aware that neither of those managers would have played that formation, but I enjoyed our football back in those days and wanted to get the best out of Osborn and Dariusz.

On 50/50 calls hard not to side with the 106 really isn't it.

Also from circa '92 onwards:

..........................Shaka

Murty........Williams........Ingimarsson........Shorey

Little........Gooding........Sigurdsson........Gilkes

...................Quinn........Kitson

Honourable mentions to:
Marcus
Sonko
Sidwell
Doyle
Osborn
Taylor
Pearce
Cureton
Parky
Forster
Wdowczyk

Mick Gooding is probably only in on sentiment, but there's nothing wrong with that.

I remember when McGhee's team dismantled Wigan 4-0

Lovely stuff.

Ian Royal Excluding loanees

Shaka
Murty
Shorey
Ingimarsson
Mariappa
Harper
Sidwell
Sigurdsson
Little
McAnuff
Kitson

Subs: Hahnemann, Wdowczyk, Harte, Leigertwood, Kebe, ALF, Doyle

I think that's a side that could trouble the top 10.

Interesting that you would include Mariappa after less than one season, and that you would include McAnuff at all...

Guthrie isn't an attacking midfielder mate and Pogrebnyak's banned. HTH.

Hence the dream part of the thread, for example - Shaka Hislop is now retired from football and Robin Friday is dead.

Well it's not just about picking all the best players but about picking the right combinations to work together. I figured Ivar needs some pace alongside him and really that leaves sonko who went shit post injury or mariappa who looks promising.

As for McAnuff left wing isn't brilliant with gilkes, convey, hunt, salako all being a bit limited in some way. And I don't share the moronic view that he's shit like many seem to for no good reason.
