The game at Villa was one of those where ripping your own eye balls out seemed like a viable option, and I doubt it's going to be much better on Saturday.

Something, somewhere, some time has to change, and if it's going to happen, it has to be on Saturday.

1-0 Royals
ALF in the 85th minute.
Pandemonium in the east stand. Lots of unhappy work colleagues and mates on Monday morning. (I hope)

Well I predicted losing to Wigan and then beating Villa, so I really ought to stick to that. But most of the optimism has been leached out of me watching McDermott screw up time and again.

Ungh... *sigh* 2-1 Reading. ALF and Pearce.

(It won't be, it'll be a loss ?-3 with Benteke at least once - probably twice.)

Delph, who's not a bad player, is suspended for Villa's games against us and QPR

ABSOLUTELY season-defining. Lose and it really is over, though not mathematically, of course.

(Yeah like we'll win at Old Trafford and The Emirates.)

Villa are playing good football but, fact is, they aren't getting results.

We talk about RFC being nervous, but they will be too.

Predict a very close game and I'll go for 3-2 to us.

We won't win because he doesn't pick our best 11!

I predicted McDermott's formation and bench against Everton with the exception of Federici, which shows how predictable McDermott is.

I don't understand what McDermott does on that training ground, because the amount of chances we present to the opposition when they cut it back from crosses is just agonising. All our players just end up in one straight all moving towards the goal, not even considering the idea there are late runners into the box. Which by the way none of our players do.

I'm just hoping McAnuff tears a hamstring and is out for the season and Kebe's groin is not that bad!
L,wood is just hopeless I'm sure it was his job to pick up Fellaini against Everton. But of course he just let him wonder into the box unmarked.

How many teams in the Prem actually play with a big CDM?? West Ham and Stoke? I don't rate Karacan but surely he's better than L,wood. His tackling is no worse but has the energy to close people down.

My team for Villa would be assuming Federici and Kebe are both injured.

=============Taylor===============

Kelly===Pearce===Mariappa===Shorey

============Karacan=============

McCleary==Guthrie===Akpan====HRK

===========Le Fondre===========

Anderson, Morrison, Harte, L,wood, McAnuff, Blackman, Hunt (unfortunately)

All this Le Fondre can't play up top on his is own is crap. He can if our players don't just bang it into his head. Fizz it along the ground!

Stop Benteke you stop Villa but I can't see us stopping him.

Benteke brace! 2-1 Villa

floyd__streete on another thread I think we'll struggle on Saturday. Loads of pace in their side. Agbonlahor up against Harte :lol: Benteke's aerial ability worries me, given how many cheap goals we have given away from corners

Loss by the odd goal I reckon.

Our record against teams around us...

Lose 3-1, Benteke hatrick in the first half with Hunt to pull one back on the 75th around mark, too little too late... again.

I can't see anything other than Benteke destroying us. Legs needs to start and needs to stick to him like glue, try and battle him for every ball.

Guthrie has to start, the quality of our play even compared to Villa against Man City is worrying.

I'd go with this, but who knows what team will play and if they can bothered for a fight

------------Federici-----------------
Kelly - Pearce - Mariappa - Harte
---------------Legs------------------
--------------Guthrie----------------
Kebe----------------------McCleary
----------------HRK-----------------
-------------le Fondre--------------

Leigertwood is the biggest waste of space in the premier league but BM is in love with him so no way hes gunna get dropped.

Our best team for villa: (presuming Feds and Jimmy are out)
Taylor
Kelly Maps Pearce Shorey
Jem Akpan
McCleary Guthrie HRK
ALF

BMs Team:
Taylor
Kelly Maps Pearce Harte
Jobi Jem Ledge McCleary
Alf Hunt

I said it before the Wigan game and I'll say it again now; we should play the team that played against Sunderland, or at least as close to it as we can get. That team gave us our best performance of the season so far.

I doubt Kebe or Federici will be fit, unfortunately, and Pogrebnyak is suspended so that'll change. I really rate Hunt's ariel threat and flick ons and such but going 4-4-2 for that just isn't worth it unless it's near the end. Also, when I last posted it I did it as a 4-1-4-1 but I think a 4-2-3-1 would be more suitable, especially since LeFondre is playing. McAnuff had a brilliant game against Sunderland playing the central role. I'd also put in Shorey for Harte. There really isn't much between them apart from Harte's superior (but inconsistent) delivery but Shorey's on-the-floor passes into the midfield are something I like a lot.

------------------ Taylor -----------------------

Kelly ----- Pearce --- Marriappa ----- Shorey

------------ Akpan --- Leigetwood ----------

McCleary ------ McAnuff -------- Robson-Kanu

----------------- LeFondre --------------------

I doubt that'll be the team, but it's just what I reckon would be best with what's available. As for the prediction;

Reading 2 - 0 Aston Villa

Come on you f/cking slags!
