It's the sign of the times

BUT

If it wasn't for Gary Neville, he would've been sacked before Xmas.

Tells it's own story I'm afraid my friends.

Caskeys Lovechild If this proves accurate, then this is an absolute oxf*rd shambles.
I will, for the first time in my life, be ASHAMED to be associated with this football club.
It would show a complete lack of respect, and a complete lack of football knowledge - as the supporters who have been calling for this for a while, have also shown.

.

It does nothing of the sort and to suggest otherwise is quite frankly the moronic thing. Club and supporters stuck by McDermott for an awful lot longer than would have happened at most other clubs, which was only right given what he had done for them in the past. However, past achievements count for little in the dog eat dog world of top level professional football. Rewards are very high but so are the penalties for failure.

It is a really great pity that it has come to this but the trouble was that, this time around, there was absolutely no sign of him learning from his mistakes and starting to put things right. However, he is not the only one and I think Anton also needs to take a hard look at the role that Hammond has played, particularly with regard to the transfer dealings of the past two windows.

Thanks Mcdermott for doing a great job. I am in shock like the rest of us, as if we were going to sack our manager, we should had done earlier or at the end of the season.

Got manager of the month in January, two months later dumped on the street. Really ashamed of this club sometimes.

Correct decision but too late...it'll be interesting to see who we bring in - worst case scenario is we still go down as we would have with Brian in charge, yet a new manager with a new ethos has 6 months to improve the playing staff and style of football.

Pretty sure the name-based jokes would dry up quickly enough that this wouldn't be worthwhile.

Sacking the guy now is pointless (excuse the pun)

There is not enough time or winnable games to salvage this season.

I'd have kept him on. The time to do it was when Redknapp was employed at QPR.

Not now..........

Ooooh look at the big man throwing his naughty little words around.

Finishing 17th in PL >>>>>>>>> Finishing 1st in the Champ

The club needs to take a step forward, that's why Madejski's been looking for fresh investment for the last 20 years.

We're 19th in the league, 4 points from safety, having lost against our main relegation rivals in the last 2 home games. This isn't even close to being a 'disgraceful' decision, it's just disappointing that McDermott hasn't proven to be the PL manager we were all hoping he could be.

Agree.
A club like reading are a second tier club. We over achieved last season, which has cost Brian his job. Had we finished 3rd and missed out in the playoffs, and been doing well now, he'd still have a job. I really hope he goes on to do well.

Parky next?

I'd also argue the Swansea Way, the Norwich Way, and the Stoke Way are working better at the moment. And AZ needs to spend more...

The point is that Anton is accepting what started looking pretty inevitable after the dreadful performance against Wigan and was pretty much confirmed with the Villa result. He therefore wants to allow time to get a new manager on board and give him as much time as possible to assess the situation before the next transfer window opens. If Hammond remains, hopefully we will get our transfers done a bit earlier than usual this summer.
