Really sorry to see Brian go, completely the wrong time IMO. I agree, victim of his own success, we overachieved last year, and he put too much faith in a sub-par squad, and failed to bring in the players we needed, and had we gone down with him in charge, this probably would have happened anyway. But I'm not sure what we were hoping for by removing him now (but I really, really hope that I will be forced to eat all of those words if we bring in a miracle worker.)
Would love it to be Di Matteo, but I just don't see him coming to manage in the championship next year. He'll get a bigger job with a team in Europe somewhere.
I'm not Adkins biggest fan, but he got Southampton playing, and got Scunthorpe overachieving while he was there, and I think he could do a good job here. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would also be a really interesting appointment, and a good chance for him to break into management in England. Having said that, he gets linked to every job that comes up over here, and I can't help but think he might just bide his time.
God forbid it's Di Canio, but I fear it could be. Or, maybe 1 + 1 = 3..... An upcoming coach from Galatasary, given our newly formed link with them?
No idea who it will be, but it will need to be an absolute miracle worker if we're going to stay up.
