He's never irritated me - I don't understand when / how he's managed to do that to so many people on here. Well, apart from managing our very close rivals and getting them to play far better football than us of course.

For me...

I'm happy with the appointment but not excited (I'm probably too old / cynical to get excited tbh).

I'm somewhat relieved, as, although I never believed there was the remotest chance of Di Canio coming here whilst SJM had a breath left in body, it could have been worse.

I feel sorry for Brian McDermott and really hope he achieves success elsewhere.

I am happy that there's a lot better chance of us taking the Championship by storm next season with an exciting brand of football than would have been the case under BM and NG.

Pretty much agree with all of that. He's never irritated me as such, I've just never found him that interesting, but there's no denying his CV and achievements though.

I guess he's the best option on the table, but I'm still a bit at replacing Brian with a manager he beat last year, despite having more limited resources.

id we should have bought more, that he was disappointed we didn't, but was very non-committal on how much cash had been available

Not quite sure about that. He didn't give a clear answer and seemed to be suggesting at one point that it was Brian who hadn't spent the available money rather than AZ not making it available.

That's not how I heard it. He said there was a joint decision made and that he didn't want to talk about but that he felt we should've spent more in January and that we should've been more active in the transfer market.

All I heard was that AZ said "we should've spent more in January" and then when asked if he made more funds available, he replied with "we should've spent more in January" so a bit evasive really. The Sky Sports feed did drop off shortly after that so might have missed some of it.
