Antons Aim

by AkpansBFF » 04 Apr 2013 12:02

I personally think Anton came in and boought Roberts in to show some ambition but aimingly to miss out on promotion so he can build a new attractive team get us promoted with in a year or two and build a stable team from there.

But as we got promoted his orginal aim was to get rid of McDermott but knew he would lose belief of the fans and players so he stuck with McDermott for the majority of the season and showed faith, but as soon as he had a good enough reason to sack McDermott he did and now as we look to be relegated he feels he can provide our new manager with "big" funds to reshape and build a passing team to go and get promoted and be stable and survive in the prem.

I understand why he wants a passing side because if you look at last 2 seasons:

Promoted teams

Norwich
Swansea
Southampton
Reading
West Ham
QPR

The teams who play good football (Norwich, Swansea, Southampton) are in good position and are doing well.
The teams who don't play good football (Reading, West Ham, QPR) are doing badly and looking to go down, apart from West Ham as they've brought in very good talent.

Thoughts?

Are we sure these are even thoughts? Seems to me that some monkeys found some typewriters.

Anton is a businessman. There is more money to be made in the Prem than the Championship. Of course he wants us to stay up.

What a crap post. :P

Having said that I completely agree. Very good points.

Promotion unexpected. Style of football not right for survival. Stuck with Brian but time for a change onto his initial plan.

Many new owners would change manager straight away I expect.

The only way is up.

Welcome Anton and the new Reading.

I'm looking forward to hearing Ideal's well-reasoned, constructive argument on this topic.

From what I recall Norwich played pretty good football under Lambert, but under Houghton it's a bit more of a work man style.

Because they were shipping goals. Houghton worked hard to made them more defensive an tighter at the back - but the inevitable casualty of that (*) is less adventurous and attractive football.

(*) at least it is for a club in the lower reaches of the Premier League
