Clyde1998 Williams (sold)

With the money generated from this sale we can afford top quality replacements for all 21 of the players you suggest we get rid off.

I don't think we need to replace twenty-one players. We've had too many players this season. I think we'd only need to replace seven.

A few of them were players that haven't played this season. Eleven were players who are out of contract and the players sold would have to be at "the right price".

St. Brynjar
Clyde1998 Goalkeepers: Taylor (released), Federici/McCarthy, Andersen (sold)
Defenders: Shorey, Harte, Pearce, Hector, MacDonald (released), Cummings, Gorkss (sold)
Midfielders: Tabb (released), Leigertwood, McAnuff, Kebe* (sold)
Strikers: Hunt, Roberts, Church, Bignall (released), Pogrebnyak, Le Fondre, Williams (sold)

Contracts that next extending: D'Ath, Henly, Obita, J Taylor

*Kebe's contract is up at the end of next season and I could see the club selling him in the summer, because of this.

NEXT SEASON
Goalkeepers: Federici/McCarthy, NEW GOALKEEPER
Full-Backs: Kelly, Gunter, NEW LEFT-BACK, Mills
Central Def: Morrison, Mariappa, NEW CENTRE-BACK
Wingers: McCleary, Robson-Kanu, NEW WINGER
Central Mid: Guthrie, Carrico, Karacan
Strikers: NEW STRIKER, NEW STRIKER, NEW STRIKER, Blackman

Send on loan: Henly, Sweeney, Obita, D'Ath, Samuel, Sheppard, Taylor

Somehow I don't see us letting go of 21 players.

I can, easily, see 21 going when a bunch of youngsters are added in too. Sheppard and Taylor will probably go too? [Taylor really isn't all that, he's about the same as Scott Davies].

The big question up there is, can we FINALLY get rid of Nicky Bignall??

Also, there are a few there that just won't happen (like every striker we have leaving) also Michael Hector won't leave.

21 players released means we'll all be able to park closer to the ground next season.

Scott Davies looked quite good when I saw him in a pre-season game against Chelsea, but I didn't see him again...

Pogrebnyak (~£30k p/w) and Roberts (~£25k p/w) will probably go. Hunt will consider his options. Le Fondre will go for the right price. Church and Bignall are no brainers, because they are out of contract (and have been for a few years).

Hunt and Le Fondre are the least likely of the bunch though.

Similar to Taylor, flatters to decieve occasionally then 95% of the time he's decidedly average at best in a L1/2 team.

Why will Le Fondre go? What is the right price? We don't have to sell
Hunt, I can see him getting another couple of years. He said somewhere he doesn't want to discuss one year as he's getting married. If it's two or none it's a difficult decision as to whether he's worth keeping, I'd err on the side of keeping personally.
Pog, probably will go, but I wouldn't be shocked if we did talk him into staying until at least January.
Roberts I can't see staying.

If someone comes in with a £4-5m offer for Le Fondre we might let him go. He's unlikely to go, but it's possible.

He's barely worth £2-3. Bite their hands off for that much (and put the fee into keeping Pog).

Can't see le Fondre leaving. Despite his remarkable spell off the bench in January - he hasn't done enough to attract interest from other prem clubs. And we're not going to sell him to another champ side, unless Adkins decides he's rubbish.

Wow! So you would be happy with a squad of 19 players of which 7 are unknown at this stage.... you do know the match squad itself will consist of 16 players? Really glad you are not a manager. Personally though, I think the absolute minimum should be 2 players in each position

Going on the 'two players for each position' rule I'm guessing it might be:

Goalies
McCarthy
Taylor

Full Backs
Gunter
Kelly
Shorey
New left back

Centre Backs
Morrison
Mariappa
Gorkss/New CB
New CB

Centre Mids
Guthrie
Carrico
Akpan
Ledge/Karacan
+1 new signing

Wingers
Jimmy/Jobi
HRK
McCleary
New Signing/Obita

Strikers
Alf
Blackman
Hunt
New Signing

And that would leave potentially Cummings, Henly, Obita, Goodwin, Hector, Samuel and Roberts knocking around in case of injury crisis, not a dreadful situation.

Have you seen the quality of the strike force and midfielders in the Championship?

Do we chance it with players who spent the season on the Bench and there best years are behind them.

Hope Adkins bloods the kids like he did at Southampton.

ALF, Hunt, Blackman, Church would be the weakest forward line we've started a season with in a very long time.

Last season we had Shane Long, and then once he was on his way we struggled for consistency up front until Roberts signed.

I'd like to see ALF + 2 new others (if Pog goes), with HRK as the 4th choice striker / 2nd choice winger.

I think it could be a very interesting summer with lots of ins and outs.

Top priority for me would be to keep McCarthy and move on a couple of players who I think their time is up (I'm thinking of the likes of Hunt, Kebe, Federici, Harte and Legiertwood). The squad needs to be rebuilt with a different mentality in mind and I think that may mean losing more players than might be ideal just so that Adkins can install his own approach on the squad without the old regime looking over his shoulder too much.

I'm not convinced we'll lose the likes of Guthrie or Pogrebnyak but it certainly wouldn't surprise me if we did.

I am expecting Adkins to use the loan market a bit more than McDermott did so perhaps we'll see a couple of promising youngsters from the Premier League coming here to replace those older heads. The likes of McEachran, Brady, Cork, Bertrand have shown how clubs can pick up important and capable players that way and I don't think we've made the most of the loan market under McDermott.

Shopping list for the summer is massively dependant upon who leaves and what we're left with of course.

Ok, let me re-phrase that then, you should have at least 2 players capable of playing in each position (eg Carrico can play CM & CD). Regardless of that, I still think a squad of 19 is too small...You rarely see a team who utilise that fewer number of players over a 46 game season, especially one which is being 'rebuilt' with a new 'playing style'.

Would like to see Obita, Samuel and D'Ath next season. Perhaps Hector as well, but not so sure we will see all of them.

Every out of contract player can leave without a moments hesitation. Especially Hunt & Pearce.
Then at least 6 FOOTBALLING players brought in.

ALF definitely off judging by the interview he has just given.

Adkins clearly does not rate him.

League 1 here we come.
