Ian Royal
Royal Lady Substantial loss? I thought our losses were about £4million a season - that's not SUBSTANTIAL in this game, these days!

and what do you suggest we do in 10 years when we're a further £40m in debt?

Pah, RL can earn that in 1 night

That would be no surprise and Rodgers said he was the next John Terry.

However, could just be paper talk becuase of what Rodgers said those years ago.

Is Pearce actually any good though? - he had one good season in the Championship where the whole team pulled together. He's been found out in the Premier League

I'm more than happy with Mariappa and Morrison as our pairing

He'll end up at Stoke in a couple of years - he'll be another Charlie Adam type signing

Good luck to the lad, he always played with pride and passion and I will never forget some of the goal celebrations.

He is moving upwards and you can never fault a player for that. I hope he can eventually break into the first team and have a great career, he deserves it.

Agree with that. He has earned his chance at the big time and you can't begrudge him it really. Hope he does well.

Liverpool should sign Ashley Williams though

Fair point. John Terry also falls into that category too I guess.

No tears if he's off. Average defender who thinks he's better than Reading. Very minor improvement on Morrison or Mariappa.

Bit galling that we bring a player through our academy system and he just walks out for free to be honest. OK we got one good season out of him but still annoying.

So by your definition he's our best defender, and you're happy for him to leave simply because he has the gall to think he can play in the Premier League.

Are you a 12 year old girl?

Really quite pissed off by this. Alex Pearce was a great player for us last season (Championship), and his celebrations after goals and wins were something to behold, and definitely a motivator in the squad. I think the whole long-running saga with him not signing a new contract and McDermott leaving him on the bench has had a really negative effect and could actually have been the difference between us surviving and not. Selfish and disloyal in my opinion, but then most "Premier League" footballers do seem to be just mercenaries (e.g. the entire QPR team except for Clint Hill apparently).

A shame that he's leaving on a free rather than signing a contract earlier in the season that would have allowed us to get 2/3 million for a player we brought up through the academy...but still as long he gets a nice fat signing on fee all's well that ends well :!:

Perhaps I meant to say 'at best', he's too slow and has hardly shone at all this season. Happy for him to leave because he's demanding over 30k a week or he's off and we have players of a similar ilk willing to play for us. No big loss.
