Don't even know what they're trying to brag about either. Yes we're relegated but they haven't had a hand in sending us down because we beat them earlier in the season and when we go to their place we'll have been down so again they'll have no effect on us. Pretty sad state of affairs for a club whose fans consider the club they support to be a big club coming on here celebrating our relegation.

I'm not on here to brag personally - god knows we've been in your position many times - but in defence of others who choose to do so, it is probably in response to the years of grief we have been receiving from Reading fans who decided to hate us unconditionally since the "Pardew affair". I know a fair few Royals and still get hassled about the "6-0" or the "sock incident", or "hoof ball" etc. Personally I don't mind the banter. My question to you is, if the roles were 100% reversed, do you think that there would be some Reading fans gloating at us? I expect there would be.

In any case, I think you lot have a decent shot at getting straight back up. Your manager knows how to get out of that division and so do a large chunk of your players.

West Ham trying to create a rivalry with us (again) is quite sweet. Deep down they realise Chelsea, Tottenham and whoever else have bigger fish to fry so they're looking for a club more their equals.

Before i get slated for trolling, gloating or anything else, i am a hammers fan who comes in peace who has actually lived in Reading for quite a few years and went to Elm Park many times around the Mark McGee, Shaka Hislop, Kevin Dillion, Michael Gilkes era and have always treated the Royals as my second team. And i'm more than happy to go to the Madejski and support them and i really didn't want Reading to be relegated.

I totally agree about the cost of the WHU v Reading ticket prices and i'll admit to being outpriced myself. But I think if the match were earlier in the season then there would have been no talk of a boycott, it really does come across as renaming "no point in going" to "boycott". I'd totally agree with "no point in going" if west ham were in your position.

I have to say I don't really understand this idea that somehow West Ham are rivals? Certainly there are no Hammers that think that Reading are ours as our depest rivalries are the obvious - Millwall and maybe less so, Tottenham and Chelsea. So it's all one way traffic from you to us whilst we don't take the piss out of Reading any more than we do any other club and think no more of playing Reading than we do, say, Norwich or Stoke. There isn't a rivalry.

As for hoof ball, well, we're happy for everyone to keep thinking that of Allardyce and his teams. It's very misguided. He plays to the strengths of the squad he has. West Ham, despite many accusations on here that we think we are, are not a big club (we've been yo-yoing forever and know our status), in fact we've been £100 mil in debt since the icelandic bank crash. Just don't get taken inby the media perception of us, it's not what we feel or think we are.

We cannot afford greatly skillful players but we'd just get relegated trying to outplay anyone on the deck. Until we can afford decent players (maybe via being at the olympic stadium a few years) then we'll look at changing things.

As for the Olympic Stadium, if we didn't take it, it would have been left to rot. If you want to blame anyone for the taxpayer shelling out so much for it then blame the challenges from Barry Hearn and Spurs that stopped us buying it. There was no viable other option. I am sure that had the stadium been in Reading and you were still at Elm Park, you guys would have loved to move there.

The Fulham tickets are £40. Is £9 more really worth all this crying?

That might hold some water if the owners of West Ham didn't get to pocket the proceeds from the sale of the Boleyn Ground themselves - which is, IMHO, a complete and utter scandal considering how much Newham Council Tax payers are having to put in.

I agree with all of that. And even though I didn't come here to gloat, I took so much vile abuse that I've decided to now gloat. It's cathartic if you like. (…whoosh! That went straight over the heads of some) :D

Well if you had managed to use a 'question mark' on the end of that sentence this conversation might have developed. But now I'm thinking it was rhetorical.

Aaah, the old 'we're not trying to create a rivalry with you, you're trying to create a rivalry with us' line. I believe Bournemouth are currently preparing that line too.

The fact that you state Reading think West Ham are our rivals shows your arrogance. Most Reading fans couldn't give one singular shít about West Ham, but merely find it funny when we regularly beat such a mighty, massive world cup winning club.

Ok, m8 whatever.

In terms of west Ham: over the Pardew thing as we've since been promoted to the top flight twice and I don't consider West Ham a rival in anything other than the fact we've played them a fair few times recently. My dislike of the club stems from their horrible accents, the fact that the ground is shoehorned into the most disgusting part of London imaginable and because they get disproportionately large amounts of media coverage due to reprehensible scumbag journalists like Martin Samuel and Rob Shepherd following the club, these people have perpetuated the myth that you somehow have amazing support. You haven't, you're fickle and you are largely a bunch of thugs. Its worth remembering that Ispwich Town and even Oxford United have won a major trophy more recently than West Ham.

I realise some of the above is irrational, if you can't take that then I suggest that Trolling on the message boards of other clubs probably isn't for you. I'd also suggest that you steer clear of other opposition message boards as most supporters of other clubs I have spoken with hold West Ham in similar disdain. People hate the likes of Manchester United, largely because they are corporate whores who win everything. West Ham are disliked on a national scale despite rarely troubling the trophy engravers which must be because you are a horrible club supported by Essex spivs.

And there you go being taken in by the media spin. "hoof ball", "we won the world cup" etc. it's not west ham who say that, it's the media, and i don't know one west ham fan who thinks we're a big club. Look earlier on this thread and it's Reading fans saying we are rivals. I'll totally admit that recently Reading have done well against West Ham and have been a bit of a bogey side for us but that doesn't mean a rivalry does it. We havent won at Anfield since 1963 but there isn't a rivalry between West Ham and Liverpool either.

Anyway, to be honest i'm more interested in what the hell has gone wrong at Reading. Last season both Reading and Southampton were playing some really decent football. Do you think Adkins will work for you? Do you think there will be many players sold? What are the chances of coming back up first time?

I couldn't give two hoots about West Ham, not rivals in my eyes but as previous have stated it is funny when we beat them because their fans get so irate about losing to 'little old Reading' its unreal. I actually class QPR more as a rival than West Ham.

I am sure I overheard QPR's rather sparse support on Sunday strike up with a chant of 'you wanna be like us'.....which originated from around a dozen teenagers who spent the rest of the game singing about a fat bloke in the Reading end, I thought "yeah, there are plenty of similarities to be fair"

I wouldn't say big club in the sense of Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal etc but West Ham are certainly a decent sized club with a decent sized support, there's no doubt about that. Allardyce has always been an enemy of the perfect football brigade because he shapes and builds competitive sides at unfashionable clubs, something that we're attempting to do.

Never been a rival club for me, Pardew left to double his wages and we ended up very nicely by getting Coppell in by taking advantage of Brighton's on going problems.

Have to say, by the look of it, Pardew at both west ham and Newcastle seems to be fine when everything is going well but doesn't seem to have any plan B when things start going wrong. So i suspect that may have also been the case had he stayed with Reading anyway. Nigel Adkins is a decent manager and i couldn't believe it when the saints got rid of him but i was pleased he went to reading.

What was the problem with McDermott?

West Ham aren't really our rivals. But there has been some rivalry since the Pardew thing. And because we always seem to beat them, we are their bogey team. I don't like a lot of their delusional fans because they think they have some god given right to be in the Premier League and chaLOLenging for European places.

Couldn't believe how many of their fans really the move to the Olympic Stadium. They would miss Upton Park when its gone, at least its a proper football ground. Why would you want to move to a boring bowl athletics stadium with a running track round the pitch that you're never going to fill? Proves how thick the majority of you are. You're not a big club.

I remember seeing the Olympic Stadium on the ticket to last year's game at Upton Park, well before they had secured it. It's going to be a shite stadium for football. At least Upton Park was a decent old ground.
