Departure: Nicholas Bignall

by maffff » 07 Jun 2013 15:39

Wow. just. wow. :|

Also, Pearce is not on the retained list - is that a formality because he is still out of contract, or have we actually given up? I guess given up as we have several down as 'offer' on the retained list.

I honestly wouldn't know NIcolas Bignall if he walked up to me in a dark alley.

What strikes me instantly from the list of players we are keeping is how many of them have the middle name Retained. Purely coincidence?

Can't take issue with much of that but Pearce is in danger of becoming a legend in his own lunch box........................over rated by too many and clearly less than bothered about being here next season. Bye bye!!!!

Also, if we end up with 4 strikers better than Noel Hunt, we will have much to look forward to this season...................all the best for the future, Noel.

Doesn't mean Pearce has actually gone just means he's not signed a contract for next season as yet. He may yet do so, he may not so all as you were on that one I think. However the expectation from all of us is that he'll be with some PL club by the start of the season

Explain all those that are "offered contract" on the retained list, yet he's on the released then?

How does that make it official? If I create another list with Pearce in a different place and publish it online would that be official?

Is Joe Mills officially staying at Reading because it says so on that list?

That list is provided to the Premier League by Reading. So yes, it's official.

Mills has another year on his contract and him going to Burnley is a transfer stipulated within his loan. He hasn't been released to join them, so technically he's retained as the deal goes through beginning of next season [01 July?].

I'm surprised that Roberts and one or two others are on the retained list. We need squad improvement but it's pointless having players on big salaries not playing. If we bring in a decent striker, an attacking midfielder, a winger etc. we are going to end up with a large squad again and some wo'nt play. Maybe we expect to lose some of the retained list but I still think Roberts is a waste of a shirt.

He's had a hard time in our reserves. He looks about 38!

Hi Siege.

We'll only know about Roberts when he plays again and on a one year deal when we have parachute payments we can afford to keep him as he could still be a asset in the Championship.

Plus Roberts can't be released because he's got a year on his contract.

^ this - amazing how some seem to think the club can simply tear a players contract up and show them the door to reduce the wage bill.....
