I must be missing something here as this seems an utterly bizarre signing; we release 2 geriatric (in football terms) left backs and replace them with another one who has barely played a game for the last few seasons. I am completely indifferent to this signing and fully expect him to get injured within a couple of weeks and be generally quite toilet. Still, all the best to him I spose

Barely played a game? What planet have you been on? Bridge played 42 games for BHA last year.

Tokyo Sex Whale John Terry is 32 and still bossing it at Chelsea.

Doubt if John Terry would be CB for Reading now (even if there was a vague rumour....)

clearly if it didn't happen in the premier league then it didn't happen at all.

If only we'd kept Shorey and Harte for a few more weeks, our left back position would have qualified for a telegram from The Queen

How is Wayne Bridge at free kicks. Has some big boots to fill (or little ones if you've heard about Harte's theory).

Honestly can't remember the last time we had a bad left back. (ok Marcus Williams wasn't up to it but he was replaced as soon as possible by ''some Irish has been'' and look how that turned out.

He may have to man up if a team mate punches the furry ticket of one of his former girlfriends though!

Super dooper.

We now have Kelly, Gunter & Cummings who can play Right Back and Bridge for Left Back with Kelly and Cummings capable of filling in there. If we can find a good up and comer to understudy Bridge and flog one of the other three brilliant, if not we're just fine and then prioritise that position again next season.

RIP 'the Reading Way' and 'moving on' and small club syndrome, thank God.

By bringing in an ageing, ex-England international full back on a free transfer? We did that last summer.

Fantastic signing - a lot of Brighton fans on North Stand Chat say he is the best left back to play for Brighton in recent history.

Can see why we got rid of Harte and Shorey now, and I'm absolutely delighted he chose us over QPR.

Yeah, cos Shorey's played in the CL and has more than a couple of England caps and 2 Premier League winner's medals and had just come off a season where he was voted best left back in the Championship.
