Unbelievable Jeff
JamieY26 Based on the exciting news of the double signing, just thought i'd see what team you would like to see out there.

For me its:

McCarthy

Kelly Pearce Mapps Bridge

Kebe Akpan Carrico Karacan Drenthe

LeFondre

Bench: Fedders, Pearce, Gunter, Guthrie, McAnuff, HRK, Pog

Theres a team that i think could very realistically win the championship! Exciting times!

WHAT? Pog on the bench?, Guthrie on the bench? Mcleary not even on the Bench?.......are you sure?

Looks like an embarrassment of riches. Nailed on champs

Aren't we back to only 5 subs per game? Or have the Football League changed their minds again?

As far as I can see there is no rule regarding squad size. There does appear to be a rule stating that there has to be a minimum of 6 home grown players on the team sheet. I assume this includes substitutes.

It's clear that our Roy (feels good saying that!) plays in a style where he has only one thing in his mind - attack. NA is trying to implement a free flowing, attractive style of football, which is sure to suit the style of football of our new recruit. To allow him to play freely and due to his height, it got me thinking about on who we pick in the midfield roles this coming campaign.

A lot of people i can see are saying they want our next signing to be an AMC or a striker, but tbh I would like to see another Leigertwood type player brought in. By all means we should give Leigertwood a chance himself. I just have a feeling should Legs not be up to it, although we have a lot of options and on paper it looks great- but a CM of Karacan, Guthrie, Carrico, or Akpan we will just be out muscled in the chump and won't win anything with the kick n rush / long ball tactics ALOT of the other clubs will be playing this season.

When we go back up we can play like Spain and have a team full of short-arse technical players, but we know what is required to get out the champ. We know it ain't pretty (106 exempt  )!

I hope I've posted this in the right forum/ topic

Feel free to mock / discuss

Im not sure where you got the idea that Drenthe is all out attack, pretty sure hes played at left back quite often.

Yeah this. He could forseeably do a job as a wing-back in a 3-5-2, should Nige want to try something a bit different.

Kebe would be an awesome right wing-back too. He was our best right back last season.

Thank god someone agrees, the people in Y22 I sit near seem to think he can't defend for his life! I really like 3-5-2 as a possible formation.

-----------------------------McCarthy-------------------------------

-----------Mariappa-------Morrison-------Carrico----------------

Kebe------------------------Akpan--------------------------Drenthe

------------------Guthrie--------------HRK/McAnuff---------------

---------------Le Fondre-------------------Pog----------------------

Or some variation of that with Pearce and Karacan. Obviously this means no Bridge or Gunter/Kelly which wouldn't happen.

"What we want are players who can make a difference,’ said Moyes. ‘We want them to entertain but for the right reasons. There will be periods in the game when the defensive side of things is not the biggest part of Roy’s game.

‘But we had to get back into this game and it was the time for Roy to be most effective. Sometimes in the Premier League, the harder side of it is the defending. You are away from home, you have got to dig and keep in the game.

If we have the ball all the time, Roy would be okay. When we don’t have the ball, we have got to make sure we have people who are going to win it back. When the games are like the way they were here, then Roy is terrific. He ran at them and created some nice opportunities."

I'd rather not have him in defence, ta.

You can't argue with the fact that he has played as a left back a fair amount. He can't be completely useless at defending then.
