I think it will stay as Jobi. He's popular and there aren't really any credible alternatives.

Long term I'd like it to be Pearce, but I can't see him getting it for at least a year.

He would only stay captain if he played almost every game. But with the new signing I would have thought that drenthe and hrk would be preferred on the wings. I was thinking that pearce might take over but i wonder how much he cares for the club

I think it is fundamental to keep him as club captain for two reasons:-

1, the players bond with him well and
2, why would Adkins come in and try fix something that's not broken?

He Isn't my choice of captain and there could be a possibility Adkins may think the same. I can't see him changing the captaincy though

I don't want Jobi as captain. Mariappa is the clear choice unless Adkins brings in someone else with the captaincy in mind. Otherwise it's Pearce. Let McAnuff concentrate on getting a game now that he has Drenthe ahead of him on the length and Kebe, HRK ahead of him on the right, and IMO McCleary.

I see no reason to change from Jobi. He's got at least another season in him tearing up Championship defences. He's intelligent, articulate, respected and popular. He provides the bridge between the old and the new and should embody the positives of both of those.

But if Adkins makes a change (I don't expect him to) then I'll trust his judgement. I just hope that those of you who want to see McAnuff lose the captaincy will do the same if Adkins sticks with him.

You have to change your wingers during the match as its the area where fresh legs are always needed. You can't sub your capt.

You don't know Mariappa will play more than McAnuff. Being a winger also hasn't held him back the last couple of seasons, so that seems pretty flawed logic to me.

One of the most annoying things last year was the fact McAnuff never got subbed even if he was playing shit.

I think its completely reasonable logic to a favour a CB as your capt. Can't name too many wingers that are captains.

I agree. Watching Mariappa play for Jamaica, though it isn't much of an indicator, he orders his defence around and is certainly vocal...

Keep McAnuff, at least as club captain like Ivar, and appoint a vice captain - could be anyone that's likely to play most/all games - probably Mariappa but it could well be one of the older faces like Legs, Federici or Pearce if they play enough games, or any of the experienced newish guys - Guthrie (at least he's vocal), Kelly or even Carrico.
