Wizard A left back and a striker IMO. Aaron Cresswell and Gary Hooper would be perfect.

Why a left back,

We have Wayne Bridge who is arguably the best left back in the division and Kelly as back up.
We have Royston Drenthe who has played a fair amount of his games for Real Madrid, Feyenoord and Everton at left back
We have Gunter and Cummings who have both played there.

Bridge is only on a year's contract and isn't getting any younger. Gunter and Kelly can play there, but we do need a specialist left back. Drenthe is as much a left back as Gareth Bale is.

I don't expect us to sign another lb this season, but it will be a priority next season.

I'd like to see us sign a young guy who could learn off Bridge (someone like Evina who was touted earlier in the summer)

We're not going to sign a big name there though, Cresswell wouldn't want to come and sit on the bench

Hoop Blah It doesn't matter how talented he is if he's physically shot to pieces.

I don't want someone to sit on the bench. I want someone who thinks they're coming to start and leave Karacan or Guthrie on the bench! We'll need depth to the squad and I don't think Carrico will add that to be honest.

Last time I saw him play he did not look shot to pieces, anyone who watched his start against WBA would have come away thinking he was terminally broken.
But in his last appearance he looked fine, just short of fitness.

Which last appearance? The half hour against Liverpool or the ten minutes against Fulham? After both run outs he was then left out for the subsequent games. Doesn't sound like a player who impressed enough or showed enough physical resilliance to be available week-in week-out in the Championship, IMO.

I'd be tempted to get rid of a few first then re think. Our squad is looking bloated with over rated players who will not feature in NA's plans.

Legs, Gorks, Feds (assuming we keep AM), Carricio (mispelt), Cummings, maybe Kebe, HRK if someone is daft enought to offer us £2m and Pog need to be sold on - then pick up a decent foil for Le fondre and I think we probably have enough to win this league.

Rare 'greed. Except for the Drenthe bit, who'd I'd want nowhere near left back.

A classy ball playing midfielder and an no 10. Also a striker.

We would probably be ok then, Nigel said he wanted up to 7 so he probably feels, as do I, that to play the type of football he wants to play we need a few more in yet.

The only two midfielders we know will cut it are Guthrie and Gem.

There's no reason to expect Leigertwood not to. Although that would be a short-term player. He wasn't as awful all season as was made out. He just wasn't athletic or quick of reactions enough for the PL and often had very little to work with. He'll be fine again at a lower level IMO.

i agree he is fine in the champ but not the way Nigel wants to play. He will be sold

RFCUK Is this our realistic squad looking at next season - obviously minus the youth players, and those who will leave.

Federici
McCarthy
Andersson
Taylor

Cummings
Gunter
Kelly
Bridge
Pearce
Marriappa
Morrison
Gorkks

Carrico
Robson-Kanu
Kebe
McAnuff
Drenth
Karacan
Legertwood
Guthrie
Akpan
McCleary

Le Fondre
Pogrebniak
Blackman

Wasn't sure about Shorey or Harte, Hunt or Roberts, so have left them out, but presume they won't be kept on (probably have already been released I just haven't bothered checking..)

Pretty strong squad of players there, very versatile too. We clearly need another striker, that's even if the whole of the above squad stay.

Realistically, who are we looking at leaving? Gorkks, Pog, one of Feds or McCarthy, Kanu or Kebe - that leaves us a couple short upfront, and possibly short of a winger.

anderson's gone and so have hunt, harte and roberts are all gone

Roberts hasn't gone, and Anderson's only on loan.

Carrico is more than good enough. As long as he doesn't run into any bastard oxf*rd hard tackling oxf*rd retarded bitch rapist Leeds players then he'll be alright.

Seems to have pretty good awareness of when and how to tackle and win the ball, seems fairly energetic just not a rock. Took over captaincy at Lisbon from Joao Moutinho for crying out loud!

So what? He's looked unfit every time I've seen him play, certaonly not "energetic".

I think Adkins has been quite clear that he's not up to scratch physically and until he is, he aint gonna be getting starts.

You would hope he's been told to get fit by pre-season or else

Well, regardless of last year, I believe he will be a fantastic player. A player that, if we get promoted, will be more than good enough. Of course this is my foreign player bias...

Pepe the Horseman Drenthe is as much a left back as Gareth Bale is.

Tbf I'd settle for Bale at LB next season.
