sandman winchester_royal sandman Hammond puts to bed winchester_royal's theory that they simply don't rate Ikpeazu in the Post saying the club are "disappointed" with it, that "it came as a shock", he was one of three they felt "were progressing exceedingly well" and they were going to speak to him "as the season progressed in accordance with policy".
Looks like they may have to review their policy to stop something like this happening again.
If that's so then yes, a fook up has occurred, but doesn't put to bed my theory that prior to last season he wasn't r8ed particularly highly therefore giving him a pro deal back then would have been dumb.
P.S. both Pearce and HRK signing new deals puts to bed your idea of any significant blows to Anton's academy push.
Not sure how their development has anything to do with his policies considering they came through the academy years before he had anything to do with the club.
This is a blow to
him and
his policy since
he became owner especially this crop of academy players because as I pointed out in one of my previous posts on this subject he gave an interview where he said "6,7 or 8 of
this age group could come through"
You can dress it up and play the denial card all you want but that is the truth and it's a wake up call that they need to get far more professional given their newly found academy status.
I hear they need someone to move the goalposts at the club maybe you should apply.
Eh? The policies are absolutely no different in terms of contracts given to U18's compared to when SJM was owner. Anton will have had very little to do with the decision of when to talk to Uche about a new contract so quite why you've decided to lay the blame at his feet is a complete mystery.
Their 'development' isn't relevant, you're right, but the fact that they've decided to sign up to the club despite relegation and top-flight interest is very significant and is a result of the club's new ambition. It's all very well developing players, but there's no point letting them go just as they start to reach their peak as we were doing before Anton came in, so it is in fact very relevant indeed.
We've lost a talented youngster, but we've gained a couple as well, and until we see how they all develop spouting off about it being a 'massive blow' is ridiculous.
