all of thsi is proper lolable.

your going on about it being an embarrassment to the club
when in reality the only real embarrasment to this club are moronic fans doing a different version of the old where has all the money gone two step.

i think you can be summed up by this picture:

If we didn't have him I'm certain we wouldn't still have Alf, McCarthy, HRK, Or Pearce. I have a feeling it's not Antons fault, and we might actually just not be very good at football? Enjoy it for what it is you bunch of fruit loops.

Well so far we're better than 15 other teams in this league, so that's good enough for me

Gordons Cumming I'll like to hear all the people who criticized Madejski's brick by brick, cut your cloth accordingly philosophy now. At least he was up front about it.

Come back, John.......................

tbf when anton took over they did say it quite clearly

nothing would change, still operating in the same sound financial setting, there wont be a massive difference, but we will invest in the infrastructure, that we wont be forced to sell our best players for financial reasons.

Didn't someone recently claim that Nigel Howell had told Get Reading that Mariappa was sold to plug a hole in the finances?

im not sure someone claiming anything on here is reason to believe it - not seen the howe quotes or the context, so cant realy comment

id imagine that getting someone off the wage bill in order to help us get others in would technically class as financial reasons

Nail on head - we just did exactly that as Kebe and Mariappa were arguably our best two players last season.

:| no. they were sold because they had prem offers, and wanted out.
wigan and QPR also sold alot of their best players too

I couldn't find anything from Nigel Howe on Get Reading either, so it was probably another fabrication from that so-called reliable source Gunny Fishcake!

Mapps told Adkins in their first meeting he wanted to look for a Prem move. We didn't overly tout him until the end to get a premium fee and we did. Adkins seems happy with the three and a youngster for now.

Jimmy's heart hasn't been with us since Brian left, loved being here, loved the fans, getting to neT 30 and wanted another shit at the Prem. He's been available all summer, shame how things went about though.

Nothing to do with finances, although the £ and free wages is very welcome of course and we got more for them than the club expected.

If Adkins really is happy with that level of cover in central defence then I will start to develop some doubts about him.

But we did sell our best players for financial reasons. And they did say things would change, lessons were learned last season and that practically a new team would be brought in as we set ourselves up for winning the league and bouncing straight back up again.

The last thing your Scientologyspeak can do is claim clarity, IMO.

Tbf all relegated teams must sell for financial reasons. Including the other two who came down with us.who despite having richer owners sold more than us. They wanted to go. And so were sold

and not because they stated they wanted to leave? You cannot keep, or want to keep players that want away when offers come in, expecially injury prone players (Kebe) and underperforming players (Maps).

Says who, the panicking few? Both clearly wanted out. Kebe wanted out after McDermott was sacked.

genome Heard rumours that Anton still owes Sir John a sizeable amount of cash. This could be where the parachute payments have gone.

I'm fairly sure the parachute payments are the clubs money, not Antons. And if Anton wanted to take that money out of the club to then pay SJM with, he'd have to do it in the proper manner (plus paying tax on it etc)...?

That is if a football club is run in the same way as any other Ltd company...

From my own experience it is quite possible to structure a deal to buy a company and then use that company's future income to pay off the money that you spent buying it in the first place. I also believe that this can be done in quite a tax efficient manner.

paddy20 Having seen the shambles of the transfer window I think there can only be one answer to our present predicament. There is a big problem with our new owners. Despite publicising our determination to get back into the premiership, to signing three new players including a top striker and immediate return to the perm, everything seems to have suddenly changed. The only answer I can see is that suddenly all the funds have dried up. We sold two of our better players with indecent haste to bring in £5m. Hammond says we need to have ' a reality check', Adkins is staying diplomatically quiet but underneath I think we can see a manager seething that all the promises of funding to build a new team to play possession football have disappeared. A deal struck with Sissoko was suddenly changed at the last moment. We are now saying we cant afford Sharp's wages of £18k pw. Zingaravech is neither seen or heard?? It seems to have been pretty sudden also.

Yes, I am sure you can but the point is that we had all assumed that that future income would be used to invest in the future not pay off the past.

I also suspect QPR and Harry were quite motivated to out bid us after we pinched Bridge from under their noses early in the window....
