I pre-concede the differences (why not point them out anyway, pedants?), however:

Spurs go into this season full of hope, with some new signings and a manager who is trying to revolutionise their 'footballing style' through possession to make them more consistent and difficult to beat.

In a nutshell -they start off OK but struggle to score goals, and lack penetration from open play.

The manager has two choices. Slow down with his reforms and try to rediscover a little of what was successful last season OR impose 'his' style even further => because obviously wingers should play on their opposite wing and be forced to cut in, and passes should always be sideways or preferably backwards.

AVB takes Option B (complete with smug PR to back it up and avoiding press questions to hold him to account) and now fans are demanding his head because they lost 3-0 to West Ham & 6-0 to Man City.

IMO Adkins is in a comparable (if slightly less luxurious) boat, as our tonkings came from a team bottom of the league, and a team from League 1. Furthermore, at least AVB has been consistent with working towards his mentality. Adkins seems to have no clear vision currently... or if he does he cannot translate it to the players.

What frustrates me most is that two of the more passionate and swashbuckling teams of last season, full of late goals and gung-ho (misplaced in our case), have turned into the damp squibs of the season so far.

On current form I can guarantee that IF I decide not to go I won't be alone, the attendance figures will back this up and it will do the club no good at all.
I don't expect Barcelona type football all the time but now and again surely and I'm convinced that the majority of fans see football as entertainment not something to endure.

Fair enough opinion, though it's thoroughly entrenched in the preference of averagely standing still, over taking a few hits in order to evolve and get better.

both have their pro's and con's. Personally I'm a fan of the latter.

and then you'll come running back when things get better again......there is a word associated with that type of football supporter.....

If, as your moniker suggests, you have been going since 1964, then, like me, you will remember many many matches stretching back over the decades when you were going home afterwards asking yourself why you had bothered attending at all. The titanic struggles against the likes of the mighty Bishop's Stortford or Halifax.
Reading fans have changed, and so have the expectation levels. fings aint wot they used to be.

Football has changed as well. The inequitable distribution of money towards the premier league has refocused the whole industry to put television at the centre of everything. This is why kick off times get moved around, Friday/Sunday football. He who pays the piper, and all that.
The fans are of secondary importance, because the clubs have done the maths.
I wouldn't mind betting that a club like Leeds, who are quite capable of selling out their 40 000 seat stadium would actually derive a smaller total income by doing so in the Championship, than by playing in front of a half empty Elland Road in the Premier League.

Don't think it will be long now till Nigel gets the boot, most sane fans are losing patience as Alex Pearce passes it to the opposition in our own six yard box.

25 mins of the loan transfer window left. If he doesn't manage to pull it off in that time, will he be finished off :?:

Dorrans woulda been ace.

But a CB woulda been essential - any club with money definately would have secured a loan.

Telling stuff.

Who though?

Plenty of clubs are looking for a killer new CB, but who? No point bringing in other clubs' yoof in on loan as cover, we have our own for that.

Yeah, that's certainly what a club with no money would do. No shame in it.

Craig Dawson would have been nice. Not getting a game at WBA.

Is Johnny Heitinga injured? Hasn't played for Everton this season.

What would a club with money do? Which defenders are available for loan with big wages being the only stumbling block? This isn't like a transfer window where a club with money can go and offer silly money for players that they need. Most clubs don't let their good players go to other clubs on loan.

He's their first back-up I think, they're not going to let him go.

Heitinga's been injured, just come back, wouldn't be close to match fit and unlikely to be allowed to leave anyway.

Just to show that things weren't always brilliant in the Champ under Brian...

^If we perform like we did in that game tomorrow night I shudder to think what the reaction will be on here.

We won't be getting anyone on loan, anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded. Even if we tried for someone it's bound to be someone who is way too good to even consider dropping a level, meanwhile many useful options will move to other clubs.

Same old policy, same old Reading - only now with no visible owner, still at least that matches the ambition....

Get somebody in on loan that might not be currently getting first team football, or perhaps is looking to step up, with the promise of buying. If you want me to find those people instead of our scouts, pay me. I'd be happy to do it.
