Mr Angry Wasn't that the game where two very large Army helicopters hovered over the ground and some guys rappelled out of them to the pitch??

From the top of the Upper West, you couldn't see the helicopters; you could just hear the noise......

I only remember a helicopter at one game - that was RFC v West Ham in 2003-2004 or something similar, think we won 2-0?

We;'ve had them at several over the years.

Kitson, Kitson iirc by the way.

Handsome Man There was a Bournemouth game at the end of the season when we lost to Walsall in Cardiff, when Caskey came off the bench to bring it back to 3-3 and keep them out of the play-offs. They seemed like really close rivals then, bought loads of fan who clearly hated us and made lots of noise, so it has been a pity we haven't played them much since. I am all for their t shirts.

Saw Walsall when they came to play my local League 1 side a couple of months ago.
They scored an equaliser in the 96th minute. On behalf of all Reading fans, I sympathised with the absolutely furious locals.
 oxf*rd Walsall.

This goes back to the early 90s. Bournemouth was one of the first fixtures we looked out for and the South Bank would sing "6 weeks til Bournemouth, there's only 6 weeks til Bournemouth" etc and "if you're all going to Bournemouth clap your hands". It kicked off with them several times, home and away. The championship winning season we had 2/3 of the attendance down there with over 4,000 Reading going and they even gave us the home stand down the side. The second half lasted 56 minutes if I recall correctly due to several pitch invasions. In around 1999 we took a coach down from the Victory and played up all day, including invading the pitch of a local Saturday park game. Odd. The police eventually rounded us up and escorted us out of the Town...but on the train, they wouldn't allow us to stay and wait for our coach. And that's why a group went down for the friendly a couple of seasons ago, but there were no Bournemouth about at all.

If I saw someone in Bournemouth wearing that I'd just assume they didn't like books.

Yes that's we had already won the title so this game became a bit of a party it was a mid week game so everyone went down for the day. A few pubs and buses got smashed in and during the ge advertising boards were being ripped up, the pitch was invaded and a Reading fan even ran on the pitch got the ball and scored a goal.

I couldn't see a fcuking thing that day and thought we'd actually scored when the Reading fan stuck it in the net. Gr8 atmosphere though.

Gilkesy should have equalised when he was clean through and the ref didn't bother to give a corner iirc, even though the keeper clearly got a massive touch. Might have had something to do with the hundreds of Reading fans who invaded the pitch thinking we'd scored.

Proper away day! Poets Corner was the place to be, Still can't understand why they moved the game from a Saturday to the Thursday! We all went early and drank all day so there was bound to be a little laddish behavior. To say the pubs got "done" or "smashed up" is a slight exaggeration...

Although it was a long time ago I distinctly remember people throwing their glasses through the windows and helping themselves to pints in the poets corner then everyone moved on when the police turned up.

Here's the funny bit, plod moved the game forward from the Saturday to avoid trouble.

As I recall we played Real Sociedad on the Saturday instead, and were presented with the trophy.

Not looking forward to today, our bright boys will more than likely serve up another Charlton and spend much of the game giving Ian Harte shooting practice.

Glad I am not at the game today. Nothing frightens me more than a bunch or retirment home workers that have whipped themselves up into a raging fury over a non existent rivalry.

Can confirm Bournemouth have taken McD's by the stadium, and have marked their turf by parking mobility scooters outside. Proceeding with caution via KFC...

There was a game in the early 2000's . We took a load. Got diverted via Banbury.
Drank on a train with a man who had a "reading cider crew" tattoo on his neck.
Rumour was rife that day that a police dog was killed.
We were drinking in a pub called the Nigerian .

I likes a trip to bournemouth.

The Wheel Boyz will be zooming down the slope off the back of the Readibus.... and the Scorpions will be converging from behind B+Q in a Schlieffen Plan pincer movement.

Took over the KFC when we were in there. Colonel Sanders wasn't impressed I tell you. Hot Wings & Bargain Buckets flying around everywhere.

I was expecting the Thames Trains Crew to pipe up when they started singing "KFC Bournemouth" and blowing the straw wrappers around and throwing condiments... but alas we were as-salted

Bournemouth away in 94 is one of those few games I will remember when I am old. Crazy times
