3points With Adkins, he changes the formation three or four times even within a game. No wonder the players lack confidence - they don't know what they need to do from one half to the next.

Do you think he's doing things differently now to when he was at Scunthorpe and Southampton?

There seems to be a myth that Adkins is about playing better football. But I do not remember Southampton playing better football than us when we played them in the championship.

Bring out the not sure if serious meme....

Yes we finished higher than them which is, I suppose, all that really matters, but Saints were FAR better to watch.

St. Brynjar he's right when he says 'goals change games'.

Adkins is very often correct in what he says. That's why his sayings are deemed clichés, because they are so oxf*rd obviously correct that most normal people don't feel the need to say them.

'Game of two halves' etc.

Royal Rother but Saints were FAR better to watch

To be fair I loved watching Saints that night we dicked them at their own place to effectively win us the title 8)

...wrong team, wrong tactics and ultimately I feel, wrong man for the job. However we do need to persevere.

The success gained under both McD and Coppell was largely due to a settled starting XI where people knew their role/place etc.

Nige has done so much tinkering of late, he would Ranieri a run for his money. It will unsettle players for sure especially when we have genuine talent like Le Fondre who never knows if he's in the team or not (mostly not more's the pity!!)

I agree that we seem to be missing Bridge badly.

Something is seriously wrong at this club, the players aren't happy, the fans aren't happy and it shows. Surely this constant changing of the team, win, lose or draw must be unsettling for a great majority of players ?

When a player like HRK can get into the current side based purely on half a dozen decent games at the end of last season then it’s a major problem. I don’t like to pick on an individual player but Kanu has done absolutely nothing this season what so ever to warrant a place anywhere near the first team and is a shadow of the player from last year. Knowing he was starting today instead of Pog was shocking and a mistake even my 7 year son could spot. Adkins, this player currently offers us NOTHING.

We are chasing 2 goals and yet his almost reluctance to throw on a proven goalscorer such as Alfie is bewildering to say the least. It’s all very wrong, very odd and very sad!

I thought we outwitted them. Yes, they had lots more possession than us, but we stabbed them to death on the counter. They exhibited a certain amount of meaningless doodling in midfield from the likes of Do Prado and Schneiderlin, a type of play that has now devolved to Reading, while Bournemouth come up here and do a McD-type one-two on us.

I am not going to allow the fact that I hated watching us struggle in the prem as much as anyone to erase the memory of my enjoyment of our championship runs under McDermott. It was limited football but very clever football at times.

And then our outdated system had us stuck in the bottom 3 whilst Nigel and Southampton were comfortable before his harsh sacking.

Perhaps, but then they spent a more upon promotion and generally made better signings. I've never been in any doubt Brian is culpable for his role in the poor quality of our signings, but you can't really say that Adkins would have done any better with that squad, because he didn't and he hasn't.

The phrase that kept nagging at me as I watched today's effort was 'passive possessive'.

Very lacklustre performance today against an average visiting team made to look almost silken by Reading's lumpen.

Bore-inspiring fellas. Must do better, etc.

I think we have to look realistically today. We are in the mix still, only 8 points off the top and no one seems to be running away with it today. If we had won the gap would have been 5 points.

However Adkins play is uninspiring, boring, dreary. Bournemouth have been shocking of late, today they ripped us apart with a counter attacking style we use to use.

I honestly think we have a chance of going up still but it will be playing boring terrible football like West Ham did in 11/12. What Nigel does when and if we go up will be most important as he will be able to attract his calibre of player, whilst what we have is limited.
