I am here as part of my research into a new project, looking at ways to help supporters reduce the cost off attending modern day football.

Tbf, gigs are getting ridiculous, arena gigs now generally cost over £30 no matter who it is, and academies £20-£30, which is a massive hike in recent years.

Is it completely beyond the wit of man to charge an amount that minimizes empty seats.Surely some assessment of likely attendance and prices pitched accordingly would assist with revenue,fan base and match day atmosphere.
I understand there will be some administrative and logistical matters to work through but some movement in that general direction effectively letting supply/demand to have a bearing on prices could have a number of potential win/win outcomes for all parties.

In the 70's & 80's we had subsidised travel on the railways for football fans in the form of the 'Football Specials'.

The reduced cost of attending away days not only drew in larger travelling support, but also altered the demographic of those attending, making football more affordable to the lower classes. Arguably this had a negative impact on football hooliganisms, which was rife during the period.

This being the case, perhaps the clubs, police & authorities are somewhat averse to any form of cost reduction to the modern day football fan? Maybe the working class man is being priced out of the game on purpose, but is this really such a bad thing?

As long as supporters are prepared to pay £40 a go for the latest shirt, £5 or whatever for a programme and overpriced beer/food the prices of match tickets will not be lowered.

Seems rather disingenuous to this fan to suggest that a lift sharing scheme will make any significant different to the cost, let alone the attendance over a season.

Portals such as this one have been used by fans keen to hook up and share lifts, it already happens.

It'd mightily piss off season ticket holders if it ended up costing them more than people who paid on the day.

I also suspect that you could make it free to get in, and we still wouldn't get a full house for most games.
